The Gordon Hayward Experiment...you know the drill

Gordon put up some bad shots and found himself in no man's land again, but you have to love that he fought through what should've been a bad night for him and ended up having an OK game all things considered.

From Locke Today:
Last 4 games Gordon Hayward averaging 10 pts and shooting 45 FG and 43% from three

His shot is coming back around. Gordon plays the team defense the way it is being coached. He switch's a lot and gets to the open guys. I really don't have a problem with a 21 year old playing the way he is right now considering we have a post first offense and a work in progress on Defense

I'm not picking on Hayward, but Locke has a bad habit of putting up stats out of context. If you go back one whole game more to the Lakers, you have to factor in a 1-7 from the field, 0-2 from 3. The 6 game sample is even worse. Or if you went just on his last two games, he's 4/13, 0/3. But by picking the 4 game sample, you get the absolute rosiest picture. At the end of the day, I'm not especially worried about the shooting since I believe he'll shoot better. I'm worried about the lack of aggressiveness, though he did finally get it going in the 4th the other night a little bit.

I agree with you here billy. And I know Locke does his job to make the Jazz look as good as possible. But to be honest every time Gordon shot the Ball in the Dallas game I thought it was going in. It looked smooth and in rythm. Didn't take any forced shots and tried to finish at the rim. I'm still pretty high on what Hayward brings to this team considering he gets the ball were it is needed on Offense. And does a pretty good job of playing the defense that is being taught.

PH. D. in Inane Babbling...

Umm, isn't this what everyone does when trying to point out a hot streak? Why, grandpa, I think that dirty stat devil David Locke should have gone back to Hayward's first shot ever, and included everything in between.

This. Biley is just irked that his bum-buddy Chucker J. Smiles is still sucking bodaggots, and God is taking all of his minutes. Keep hatin' though, Biley.

Locke picks a 4 game sample. From that, he gets 45%, 43 from 3.

If Locke picks a 3 game sample, he gets 42%, 20% from 3.
If Locke picks a 2 game sample, he gets 31%, 0% from 3.
If Locke picks a 5 game sample, he gets 39%, 33% from 3.
If Locke picks a 6 game sample, he gets 37%, 27% from 3.

The point is Locke's choice of a 4 game sample was not arbitrary. It was the best possible spin on the fact Hayward is struggling with his shot.

+9 for the aint reference. It brought back good memories. You are now officially the only person I have ever repped, positive or negative, and probably the last. I'm also not sure I even did it right. I just checked the box on advanced for excellent.

Ya, you failed. I appreciate the thought though.
