The INSANELY early 2012 DRAFT

Everyone out there knows Cal pushes the kids out the door when their draft stock has seemingly peaked.

However, with Terrence Jones, Calipari said, "Everything I'm hearing is you could go between 12 and 15. Ifthat satisfies you, then go and NEVER look back, no regrets. But I think you have a chance to be Top 3, maybe even #1. If you want to put in the work to improve, have the determination to get to a top 3 pick, I'll coach you to get there, but DO NOT come back unless you are deadly serious about challenging every superstar in the nation for that #1 distinction in next year's draft."

Cal never says this .. he always urges (heavily) his kids to turn pro .. but I know (first-hand) that Calipari believes Jones has the ability to be a perennial all-star, but needs another year of 30+ minutes on a team full of future lottery picks.

Yeah, it was pretty interesting that he told Jones this. I wasn't all that impressed with Jones down the stretch last year but now I wonder if he'll be their superstar go to stud. So yeah, very intrigued to see what his game will be like next year.

Yo, PKM, what position will Jones be playing next year? PF?

Yeah, stretch PF ... because UK is loaded with SF's (Gilchrist, Miller, Hood) and lesser with PF's. GUARANTEE you that Calipari will allow Jones to show his SF skills though .. he's a player's coach and wants these kids to be EXTRA special.

Ha! Sorry, man, Miller is Darius Miller #34 coming out of high school and going to be a SR. He's 6-7, 225lbs, shoots 40% from 3, and has the skills to play point (at the collegiate level). Hood was the #35 player coming out of high school, going to be a JR (Jon Hood). Just gotta get these kids playing time.

Kendall Marshall is far better than Greg Paulus. I think we can all agree on that (for those that know who is Paulus is, anyway). I like Kendall, not down on him at all, I think he's a legit late first-round PG talent.

I should have clarified that statement better. Marshall's situation is/was similar to Paulus where he had very good players around him that make him look better than he is. Paulus obviously wasn't that great, and I do think that Marshall is better than him. Don't get me wrong though, I love Marshall as a person and I love the way he plays...he just plays the right way. But what I see in him, is a guy who is very smart, very good passer, but does not have even good athleticism, does not have a good shot, has good height, is still weak, you can obviously see where I'm going. I see him as a very similar player to Marcus Williams from UConn....smart players, good passers, great college players, just not that good of NBA players.
