The Jazz super trade

I agree what you are saying, but consider this - we are one of a very few teams that have the space needed to help Portland get under the luxury. We have tons of leverage.

I could definitely see us saying a 2nd for Harkless and one of their later 1sts. If they do it, they save $20+ million and avoid repeater luxury tax payer next July. Maybe we do #24, and #30/a 2nd for Harkless and #15

I agree at draft time we are one of the teams that can help... once FA opens many teams will be able to help. I don't think they want to make all 3 first round picks, but they could verbally agree to a trade and make a pick for someone and just consummate it later.

I'd also like to move Lyles for some value while keeping other more liquid assets if possible. I think one of the worst things you can do when you miss on a guy is continue to allocate developmental playing time to him when other prospects need that time. I don't see us drafting a guy and playing him at the 4 and also getting Lyles time at the 4.

They are in a little bit of a tight spot.

Harkless doesn't move the needle. And he would put us even further over the cap further complicating already difficult financial decisions that we need to make this offseason and next offseason. Pass.

There's really only two options this offseason. A huge trade that sees us acquiring a star like Butler or PG to take us to the next level. Or standing pat with a similar roster to last years and waiting to see what the trade deadline brings.

When you figure we started Diaw most of the year and Harkless is an big upgrade there I think it does move the needle. Honestly George/Butler have no chance of happening. No one would have thought George Hill would be a monster addition either, but we were a 55 win team when he's healthy. Solid players at positions of weakness are upgrades.

The Bledsoe deal is the only reasonable "big" deal I could see happening. I also still think we should try and get Harkless from Porty to play small ball 4.

How's about this one... Porty sends Harkless and #15... we send Lyles and the better of our pick or OKC's pick next year. We can then route Favs, Burks, #24 to Phoenix for Bledsoe and Chandler. 2 medium trades equal a super trade right?
I like both of those deals...... leave burks on the jazz though.

Teams below the cap no longer have an MLE because there is a cap hold for the MLE amount. The Jazz will be required to renounce the MLE in order to fill up to the cap without a trade being involved.

Current cap holds:
Hayward - 24.1
Hill - 15.2
Mack - who cares, can be waived
Ingles - 4.1
24th - 1.6
30th - 1.4

Utah has about 112 million in cap + holds not including the MLE, Diaw or Neto, and will have zero operating space in free agency even if they release Ingles, Diaw and Neto. The only option at this point is trading injury prone Burks, Favors, Exum and Lyles, Hood, Bolomboy plus draft picks.

This "rebuild" failed when DL failed to make a trade at the last trade deadline. Fifth seed yeehaw!
Poor frank

Fish got the AB fever again... he almost has to move to make sure we don't pay too much luxury tax. Would be sad and I'd be rooting for him wherever he goes.

Hell no!! If for no other reason, Speights. I want to punch the douche bag in the face every time I see him.

It is hard being right all the time, using critical thinking to project, and using basic math. It's lonely at the top.

I feel more sorry for you fanboys who will go through hell when the inevitable blowup or/and next Al Jefferson 8th seed bust team gets built around aging vets that you hate. The writing is on the wall.

BTW, do you wonder if Burks will go overseas when the Jazz can't trade him and decide to use the stretch provision when they release him for cap room?

I thought you said you were leaving or weren't a Jazz fan anymore? What ever happened to that?

This. But if Cleveland says yes, you do that trade. Kevin Love would be a huge get for this team.

If we keep our core minus Favors and add K.Love we are a better team than Cleveland was this year and would be right in the mix to challenge GS.

Lol.
You dissed the rebuild at every turn. Never expected the jazz to be as good as they are.
Wrong per usual.

Kinda tired from beating this dead horse, but Burks needs to stay. Best one on one player the Jazz have and he will be crucial to the teams playoff success. 10 million is more than reasonable if he plays. He'll get healthy.

I still have faith. He offers something we don't have when he's right.
