What's new

The Jazz will be playing in the playoffs

the jazz will suffer some injuries at some point, too, so let's not get overconfident based on other teams' health issues. harris and howard are already gimpy and the jazz still aren't two weeks into the season.

that said, i was looking at the standings today and surprised at how unscared i was at all of the sub-.500 teams. dallas is going to come back at some point, and minny is one botched defensive play from being 3-3. but other than that... golden state, phoenix, new orleans and houston all have serious flaws.

so do the jazz though. here's what we know so far: they aren't going to win a bunch of road games against good teams (0-3) so far, and they are capable of being bad-to-mediocre teams at home (3-0 so far). their record depends a lot on how well they do in games like tonight (at home against a good team) and tomorrow (on the road against bad-to-mediocre teams).

Hey, are you from Honduras or did you just spend some time there? I was fortunate to spend a month, mainly in the Bay Islands as part of longer 3 month backpacking trip through Central America. Good memories.

I lived there for a while, mostly in the eastern part of the country.

Just think how great they'd be if they had lost 4 games a year several years sooner, instead of drafting the actual players that make them who they are. Then they'd be really good.

Thats why I said playoffs are better than a late lottery pick not a 2nd overall pick in a draft with 2 players who were considered elite.

A big win today. Memphis is the team we are very likely to finish neck-to-neck with, it would be great to have a tiebreaker with them. It is amazing to see how much better Howard, Burks, Favors and Kanter looked today compared to the start of the season. Our team is going to get better with every game, people tend to forget that besides having 5 first/second year players we have key veterans that are very new to the team - Howard and Harris. And even Jefferson spent just a season with the team.

The Jazz are much better than how they looked in the first 2-3 games, just give them some time.

Fair enough. Just the same, Utah's pick this year could very well mean having two picks in the mid/late lottery, and that means they could be in a position to move up high enough to have a great chance at finding a difference maker. In most drafts, I would probably agree with your statement. This year is just a different situation, IMO.
