Still don't think us getting Harden is in any way shape or form realistic. When was the last time Utah got a TOP FA to come to Utah? We would probably looking at close to max money, if not max money to lure him here. I really really like Harden, but not as a max contract, or close to max contract player.

Kendall Marshall
Gordon Hayward
Nicolas Batum
Derrick Favors
Enes Kanter
Millsap
Burks
You'd take Batum over Harden?
Wow...
listening ..
You only trade for Harden if your prepared to match whatever offer he gets in 2013-2014 FA. Is he even going to be a RFA?
I don't think there's anything more to say, I mean, we get Harden and that gives us an automatic pass to the playoffs each year. That's it. Full Stop.

I'm operating within the realm of realism. Harden is going to demand a lot of money. Do we really want to pay him that much?
Batum can be afforded, while also paying Hayward, Favors, and Kanter when their paydays come up. It's about financial flexibility. I love Harden. His beard is a daily inspiration on my life.
Also, how in the hell do we get Harden. He is not coming here in FA, I can nearly guarantee that. I see a lot of "trade for him", but who do we have that OKC wants? And are they really going to trade Harden to a division rival?
As much as I love him, I'd do Kanter for Harden straight up. Might even throw in Burks.
Keep Jefferson/Millsap and we're still good to go.
Uggh. I like Harden, but he isn't the best player on a contending team. Not sure he is even the 2nd best player on a contending team, so I'm not really ready to trade two potential quality players for him. I doubt either team would do this trade.
Also, the possibility of getting screwed over in FA is too much to handle. What if someone offers him max money? We accept it and pay him, or let him go knowing we gave up two lottery picks for a 1 year rental.
Sign & trade? That or we sign him up to an offer we know OKC can't match.
There are 28 other teams trying to sign him besides Utah and OKC. Places much more physically attractive. It's a general rule of thumb that we have to overpay to get talent. I just don't see it happening at all. I would be ecstatic and excited if it did, but I'm being realistic. When was the last time Utah got a top tier FA? Has Utah ever gotten a top tier FA?
Sign and Trade is very unlikely because teams just don't like trading within their division, it hardly ever happens. I don't think OKC wants to trade James Harden to a team they play 4 times per year and will see in the playoffs every year. Also, do we really want to give them Kanter, a guy who could finally give them the missing low post scoring they desperately need? I know I don't. I would rather **** over the Blazers and take Batum, a very promising young SF who fits our team.
I like your optimism..
Just kidding.
Harden coming in OKC and being happy in that 6th man role tells me he's not after the limelight. Who knows? Being in OKC may have convinced him that playing in a smaller market in a tight-knitted team is the way to go.
Moreover, don't forget that OKC is probably one of the most religious team in the NBA and Utah already has a core group of young Christians - I think he's just the kind of personality that would fit right in. Being a strong Christian myself I can tell you that a lot of my life decisions are based on my faith.
