What's new

The Lauri Thread

- Lauri talks about his shot in a media day interview
- Says he's still confident on his shot, and especially if he shoots from his comfort zone (c&s from spot)
- They have knowingly tried to get him shoot more off the screens, picking them shots off from motion and on tougher situations. He trusts the shots would start going in through repetitions, and that he haven't really taken such shots earlier in his career
- Aside learning that, the idea is also to allow more space for the team by moving Lauri more, so the defenses have to react on that.
- Lauri is not admitting his sitting out from games would've contributes to his slump by making it tougher to stay in rhythm.

Let's see how it'll go rest of this season, and onto the next one..So far, the growing number of 3ptsfeom new/less familiar situationshavent looked great. And yet,if he unlocks them as well and shoots closer to 40 than 35 again, it's nice. I just wonder how much can Jazz afford run it on next season, in case they won't start dropping, as they also have to think about his trade value

Here's the link for the media day interview:

I would be lying if I said I wasnt worried at all. I'm hoping that he has been checked out for this season because he understands what the goal is.

Sure, but I don't understand why he's even playing if he's gonna play like this. It makes no sense.

He looks like he doesn't want to be there, he's hurting his career stats, killing his value, risking injury AND the team would probably be happy if he just sat.

Very weird.

I think he has been and does but it's still a little worrying.

Overall I'm not worried about him.

If we get The Guy in the next draft then I think we start trying to win next season and I think Lauri plays like an all star again.

I don't believe in that, bc the next draft is great and Jazz is still losing their pick if they slip to further than 8th pick.

If Jazz wants Lauri's value go significantly up again, I think it has to wait for 26-27, and the following season. I think it's safe to say it can't go worse at least, without injuries, for Lauri.

It's now vital he stays healthy for the Eurobasket tournament held in Finland this summer..Getting a break from this tanking and playing for his national team can do amazing things for his confidence right now.

Only sense is that he "just wants to play". But playing without competing isnt how he is built. Imo his international play and Chicago days indicate that he is a guy who needs to play with stakes/emotions.

Not sure when the boat turns but sooner the better for Lauri.

Truth is he wanted to stay, knowing what was transpiring.

I’ve never really been able to understand how keeping him and maxing the **** out of him made sense if we were doing anything besides trying to win as many games as possible as soon as possible. I don’t understand how we’re supposed to tank again next year and all the while, we are paying this version of Lauri a true max contract in an era where those are getting clawed back because they are so burdensome.

If it was the Shams package then the Jazz ****ed up. Getting greedy with house money is usually a bad idea.

Lauri is having a pretty tragic season yet somehow still has a 2.1 OBPM. I think he is almost value proof given he's a volume 7' 3pt shooter that teams trust to shoot 3's well.

It's been a rough year, and yesterday was straight up pathetic, but Im not worried. I still think the Spurs would give up a better haul of pick capital (he's the ideal fit next to Fox/Castle/Wemby) than the Warriors were putting on the table. The Spurs can make the deal work with just Barnes/Johnson while keeping their entire core. Or the Jazz get Cooper and build around Cooper/Flagg.
