The logical reason for jefferson logging major minutes?

And yet....According to stats provided earlier in this thread if you replace Jefferson with Burks (thereby moving Hayward to SF) the lineup is better.

Small sample size and the difference was not significant.
Whether that group is a little better or not, the bench IS much better by having Burks as the #1 option (and Kanter #2). I guess what we can agree on is Lindsey has some flexibility moving ahead. If the Jazz discover that BPA in the draft is a guard, then Hayward can get all his minutes at SF. If BPA is a SF, then Burks can come off the bench and win the 6th man award next season.

Yes. Agree with this. Let him come off the bench in limited minutes And hit some shots from distance. Maybe he this disappears less than what he does now. Plus he can alternate between sf and pf depending on the matchup.

Bro the lineup is one of the 100 most used lineups around the league, so how is that a small sample size? And how is the difference not significant? The one lineup is ranked 22nd around the 100 most used lineups and the other one is 49th. I don't know but that kinda seems significant.

ok this season aint about being better aka winning. this season is about developing talent. part of development is team dynamic develeopment and experimenting. this season is by getting a better futre. playing jefferson might make us betetr NOW. but makes us worse in the future(i say might cus i disagree playing jefefrson 30 minutes makes us better now)
how about an experiment when jazz play the sixers.

jazz roll out a starting lineup of

Burke
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors
while gobert is tried alongside kanter and favorrs.
where evans is tried at the 3
and dianti loging major miutes
basically core 5, evans gobert and garret all log 30 minutes atleast(if possible semantic wise).
and stick with the result.
try it against sucky teams first.

win or lose jazz would gain wa more than playing kanter 7 first half minutes and jefferson 30 minutes

I don't consider 98 minutes all that minor. I also don't consider 5.4 less points for the opponent not significant. At the very least it should be done more. I like Burks off of the bench. But that in no way explains Jefferson's minutes. Hayward and Marvin can both play SF and should get minutes there before Jefferson. It's telling that a lineup with Burks instead of Jefferson is quite a bit better defensively despite getting smaller. Also that a vet can't make the players around him better on either end of the floor even though he's supposed to create space for the others.

I like Burks off the bench too, but I'd rather see what he could do in the starting lineup. If that doesn't work, then he can go back to leading the bench.
