Yeah, this NBA policy of not announcing trades right away is annoying enough to us fans, but is far WORSE for the players involved. Creates many an awkward moment. Very bad policy, IMO...
I wouldn't read into that too much - when he has time to absorb the whole thing and realizes the PG position is wide open on this team then he'll change his tune. If he hasn't already.
I also think that this is a huge win for the players already on the Jazz roster. How can Kanter, Favors, Hayward and Burks not be thrilled with this? The team got younger, the focus is now on them and it appears they will be given the time and tools to succeed.
HahaI was gonna open a new thread, but I decided to post it here.
YAY!
Man some of you guys should be detectives with the way you can pull out amazing conclusions from simple interviews. Nothing about Burke's interviews suggested trepidation about playing in Utah long term. Really, he was excited, focused, thankful and eager. The only thing that I can see possibly giving you that impression was when he said "I look forward to playing in Utah for ... for the next however long" (or something like that) ... but that was hardly intended to be a slight against Utah, more just being modest and understanding how quickly things can change
100% agreed and I mentioned this to my brother during the draft. It's stupid for the players and also for the fans. They should be able to announce it when the pick is made as long as it doesn't involve any existing players (then I understand the deal might take longer to review/approve). I'd like to see the NBA move to a computerized draft board so they can change team names as soon as trades are made. It's ridiculous that they are still sliding cards into a board for team and player names.Yeah, this NBA policy of not announcing trades right away is annoying enough to us fans, but is far WORSE for the players involved. Another benefit of a procedural change is for recording draft history. You know how this year will be remembered historically? As the year the Jazz drafted Shabazz Muhammed, Gorgui Dieng and Erick Green. Just like they drafted Ryan Humphries and Nazr Mohammed in prior years. Just like Seattle drafted Scottie Pippen. Allow trades to be revealed live and you can fix these blips in draft history. Make it happen new commish!
