I disagree. They guys is on the all NBA defensive team. How many players on that team want to play in Salt Lake? I doubt Lebron or the Greek freak will be coming to SLC anytime soon tp play for us.

The super max is really punitive. If it was supermax or trade him... I’d trade him. The last year of a supermax is almost always going to be really bad... only teams with deep pockets should consider it and only if they have a guy who will be a sure fire top ten guy over the life of the deal. You don’t pay for past loyalty... we have paid him well... we helped him develop and invested in him... no need to give a premium because he’s a guy we drafted.

It was somewhat of a joke, people always use they don't want to play in SLC, but it isn't like Milwaukee is LA or Miami. Besides the fact that not everyone wants to live in LA or Miami but the majority would choose those two cities over SLC or Milwaukee. I am sure many people like Milwaukee but I have been to both places and SLC can hold its own on Milwaukee. The reason why he stays in Milwaukee is out of loyalty, money and he has said he is a small town guy.

Thanks for making my point. They rather be in Chicago. No one has time during the week to drive 90 minutes just to have more to do. SLC is a short flight to Vegas if you want to argue that a player can find an alternative to daily living. My main point was that Milwaukee isn't better and could be worse depending on your opinion of the cities. Both cities do not have the appeal of major markets so the location is a wash.

Milwaukee has more black people. Some people just don't want to live only by whites.

Giannis is probably gonna leave so what's the point of this argument? He wants to win and that's not happening right now.

Rudy is not a supermax player. He's not the marketing draw and we can lose in the first round without him. Supermax is a business and title contending decision. He isn't absolutely critical for either.

Man, for those who said the Jazz would be competing for a playoff spot without Gobert, I think you are seriously undervaluing what Gobert does for this team. Take a look at almost any advanced metric and he comes out in the top 15 in the league. Mitchell doesn’t even get close.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Mitchell and believe he is this team’s future, but without Gobert these last three years the Jazz would have been the Atlanta Hawks. If the Jazz trade Gobert this year for a younger player and/or draft pick, I can almost guarantee we are lottery bound next year. Or should I say, Memphis is lottery bound. (RAPTOR)

Cap stuff should be finalized this week. Sounds like there will be a flat cap but that everyone wants to push the tax higher. If they don't the FA market will be as dismal as we've ever seen. The number thrown out is like 139M. Would allow us to use full MLE (which would be about 9.2M in that case) without going into the tax if we can dump Ed or TB (could waive and stretch Ed if we found no takers for his deal).

I think it would likely keep JC's market down a bit if cap stays flat... He is at that MLE level and the MLE amount follows the cap. 4 years and a little under $40M would be the most he could get. 4/45-50M would seem like a nice bump in pay to stay put.

With the short turnaround and limited FA window I do expect us to basically hold firm and maybe make one signing... They might even rationalize the just rolling forward with Tony is the best plan of action since he knows the system... yada yada.

I don't know that we have the time to make the changes that we need to at this point. So I would expect large doses of the same scheme, personnel, etc.

Yup. The pre-Xmas plans doomed us. There isn’t another team in the nba more likely to run it back than teh Jazz

I also think this feeds into a more likely chance of a Favs reunion. DL "He knows the system and his hand pads have only gotten better with experience".

NO doing a big one year overpay has less teeth now too with a 30%+ escrow... 12-15M is more like 8-10M so the future years have more value now... not sure they would commit to a 3+ year deal.
