The Official and Unfortunate R.I.P. Jazzfanz member thread

I'm saying this site has far less to do with actual basketball talk than humor of the homo variety, in particular.. I'm fine with it.. but you don't see many posts breaking down game film or debating defensive sets.. you see humor, you see griping, you see homerism.. but it's not a basketball board like most I've ever visited. I ain't even complainin doe.

It seems like you need to have played the game or need to have studied extremely long to break down game film or argue defensive sets.

To put it another way I never played organized basketball growing up. Played a ton of pick up games but it's not like anyone is out there with the dry erase board diagramming plays. I watch a ton of Jazz basketball, typically every game in a season. Yet while I can grasp the basics (ie tell if the defense is playing man or in a 2-3 zone) that's about it. Granted, I don't claim to be the greatest mind in the world, but from my experience it seems like if I can't get anything past the basics from watching the games I imagine most people can't either (though some people obviously grasp more than I do) On the other hand I don't hold myself out there as someone who is particularly knowledgeable either. I just have my own rudimentary opinions like most people do.

I'm in the exact same boat. I watch the games very closely when I do watch them, but I can't tell you what play the Jazz are running or any of those details that a few (very few) people here seem to have a grasp on.

Maybe if sports shows did break down plays and get into the X's and O's us casual fans would start picking it up, but most people just want sports coverage like the E! channel covers hollywood.

Yep... just as most. Like I said, I have no problem with this site and I wasn't even talking about ^^ that type of thing. I was referring to all the sarcasm and jackpotting.

Whatever happened to InGameStrategy?

I thought he always had good posts and insightful things to say. Or is he only around when there are "games" being played?

oh yeah.. dope!

I have in-games email.. we shared some personal info to validate each other's sources a while back. They guy has some definite connections but mediocre at evaluating.

Woah really? I Furkan hated that dood.
