The Official Post About Your Family Thread

I took my daughter on a tour of the "haunted houses" around town last night. Really just the freaky looking old houses with boards on them because ghosts are fake. Anywho, I thought it was hilarious and she was trying to be brave and all and then bam ... she comes crawling into bed at 1 am saying shes too scared to sleep alone. My bad. THEN.... my 1 yo had slept through the night like 12 hours a night since birth basically. Its been great. Well for some reason (ghosts probably. God damned ghosts) he woke up screaming every hour or so all night. So last night sucked hard.

dude. My kid does not sleep. 22 months of hell. Every night. He wakes his *** up and demands that we open the door, then he's all like "dad, turn the light". "Dad, turn the light, with the hand!" Even for a toddler, he puts words together in goofy ways. Anyway, then he comes in my bed, and pushes his feet against my head all night. Then wakes up at six am and asks for eggs and toast.

Isn't this supposed to be the positive family thread?

Not totally complaining as I did get to cuddle my little girl and have my son fall asleep on my shoulder which never happens anymore. But all in all I was very tired the next day.

I think you're spoiling him/her too much?

Possibly, or possibly not. My kids have slept through the night and go right down as soon as we put them to bed pretty much every night. I have always attributed it to genetics and not anything we did special though. My niece is beyond spoiled and she is THE worst baby on earth though so maybe I'm just a hell of a dad.

I guess this is as good a place as any to put this.

My sister had her 2nd fully deaf child about a week ago. You can imagine how devastated she was. Somehow Karl Malone found out and gave her a phone call to congratulate her and wish her well. Her phone disconnected on the first try so he called right back.

She also shared a hotel in Europe last summer with Team USA and has random elevator pictures and stuff with several prominent players, Barkley, etc. I'm pretty sure Malone's 2 minute phone call meant more than all that combined.

I agree with you about ghosts. That they are fake

Nightmare, I have a deaf nephew and now a new deaf niece. The nephew got a cochlear implant at 2.5-3ish and you'd never tell he was deaf. If that's an option for anyone with deaf kids I'd highly recommend looking into it.

Stash this in the delayed response category. Due to the specific condition (microtia/atresia) that my son has, a cochlear implant wouldn't do anything for him. There are surgical options that include having ears created (there are multiple methods for this), the ear canals opened (which may or may not help with his hearing), and even a magnet or abutment implanted. Regarding the magnet or abutment, that would eventually take the place of the headband my son's hearing aid is on now.

****, man. What's up with that? What are the chances? Or what's the reason for this?

That Karl Malone thing is pretty cool; doesn't change the fact that he played for the Lakers.
