Jazz win big.

Harris will be good - albeit not as good as D-Will on offense.

Quite frankly, I think he'll be better on defense.

Favors, if not a dominant scorer, will be at least a defensive presence and a solid low-end double/double guy (12/10, 14/11)

My guess is they take one if not both picks and try to package it for a proven perimeter shooter. Otherwise, half the team will have 3 years experience or less by 2012-13

Like OKC. I like the sound of that.

The real judge in this will be comparing what we got for D-Will this deadline for what New Jersey gets for him at next year's deadline.

I think it's way too early to decide. This trade really all hinges on the draft pick and how well Favors develops. If Favors becomes an Amare with defense than the Jazz win big IMO.

It's been mentioned many times in the past, but most teams that win championships don't do so with their best player being a point guard.

If the Jazz can go out and get a wing that can score at will, and Favors develops into elite PF, then MAYBE Utah wins this trade.

Absolutely. The key to this trade is Favors. The Jazz think he's an elite prospect. Talented big men win championships. The extra lotto picks are icing on the cake.

Shaq = 4 rings
Tim Duncan = 4 rings
Hakeem = 2 rings
Pau Gasol = 2 rings
Garnett = 1 ring

Kobe Bryant rings with an elite big = 5
Kobe Bryant rings without an elite big = 0

Stockton = 0 rings
Gary Payton = 0 rings
Mark Price = 0 rings
Kevin Johnson = 0 rings
Isiah Thomas = 1 ring
Chris Paul = 0 rings
Steve Nash = 0 rings
Chauncey Billups = 1 ring
Jason Kidd = 0 rings
Allen Iverson = 0 rings

Not to beat a dead horse....

Oh, and looking at the Nets roster, I really don't see D.Will being in a good mood a year from now.

Me either, I think he's gone. DWill doesn't want to be the second rate show in New York. Of course Howard is the one wild card, he has been showing signs of his unhappiness in Orlando. So Orlando could be in the same position as the Jazz very soon. If the Nets offer Brook Lopez and picks to Orlando for an unhappy Howard, do they turn it down?

Marc J Spears listed him as one of the Losers of the deadline deals:

• Deron Williams
Talk about a tough couple of weeks for Williams. He shouldered most of the blame for Jerry Sloan abruptly resigning as coach of the Utah Jazz after the two had an argument the previous night. Then, on Wednesday, the Jazz stunningly shipped Williams to the New Jersey Nets for guard Devin Harris(notes), rookie forward Derrick Favors(notes) and two first-round picks.

With Williams holding the option to become a free agent in the summer of 2012, the Jazz wanted to avoid a situation similar to that of the Nuggets, where Anthony held their season hostage as he sought a trade. Not confident Williams would re-sign, the Jazz traded him.

Now?

Williams’ future is the Nets’ problem, not Utah’s.

Williams sounded confused during his introductory news conference with the Nets. First, he said there was a strong chance he’d re-sign and would help recruit free agents. Then, he said he’d need to take his time to figure out whether he’d re-sign.

Williams is under contract through next season which gives the Nets about a year and half to convince him to stay. Williams had become frustrated seeing some of his Jazz teammates leave in free agency and trades, but now he’s tasked with building the Nets into a winner.

“I can’t really give any assurances or say I will be here,” Williams said. “I don’t know what the future holds. I look forward to the possibility of it.”

I have a feeling that, as Deron's contract is coming to an end, the Nets will probably fight harder to keep him than the Jazz. They have less time to get fed up with his antics. With less time to build around him, they may expect more patience out of him than he actually has.

I don't think it's much of a stretch to say that Deron won't be in a Nets uniform unless Dwight Howard is putting one on in '12-'13 too.

Utah won this easy. Especially considering Dwill did not sign an extension. So they got him for 1.3 seasons, with 1 season of drama, I'll pass on that.

We now do not have to deal with 1 year long drama in the locker room on what Dwill will do.

It is over, I wish him the best, but time to move on.

My only concern with us now is we are too young. 3 Rookies that are all projects (Favors, Hayward, Evans) plus 2 picks from what is being labelled a very bad draft class, which equals, more projects.

We need to make some moves.

LOL; is this ESPN?? Neither player has stepped on the court in a game for their new teams.
Looking ahead, New Jersey is gambling way more than the Jazz with this trade. If Williams would re-sign there after next season, the Nets look good IF Favors doesn't pan out. Oh, and if neither of the lottery picks we got pan out either. And if Devin Harris, a talented PG, also flops in Utah. Numbers are very much in our Favor here...
It seems very unlikely Williams stays in New Jersey as he would never committ to Utah, a much better team. I suspect the Nets will trade him before next season's trade deadline a la Crymelo...

Jazz got 2 #1's and one possible allstar PG plus a potential stud for someone they would have lost next year...New Jersey gave up all that to rent DWill for one year.
Jazz totally fleeced the Nets and to think otherwise, as Num said from the wrong side earlier, is plainly foolish.
