I think some people are against it on the basis of personal freedom. Meaning, as a US citizen, I have the right to move freely within my country as long as I can demonstrate proof of citizenship and have demonstrated no reasonable cause to be detained. Right?
I mean, what did your boy Franklin say: They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
What else are you willing to give up Dave? At what point do you, personally, say they've gone too far?
You can still move freely about your country. You can drive; otherwise, getting fondled and x-rayed is what you get. Getting on an airplane to travel is not a right.
The politicizing of the pat-downs and body scanners is awful. The same people demonizing the drastic steps being taken are the same who were demanding answers over how the 19 hijackers were able to do what they did. I have no problem walking through a scanner, or getting a pat-down, as long as everyone is getting the same treatment. Then again, I also think that they should have a curtained off area that if someone wants to avoid the x-rays and pat-downs, they can walk strip down and walk through a security checkpoint buck *** naked.
