The reason we should go big with #3

I'm smoking crack yet you're the one wanting AK back. If not Barnes, then Rivers. If not Rivers, Gilchrest. Point is, next year's draft will be far more likely to get us a solid wing. We need to take BPA this year, and IMO that's not one of the Pg's at number 3. We have an opportunity to build possibly the best frontcourt in the NBA. Why not go for it?

We may not even have a pick next year. GS could sneak in as the 8th seed. Or, they could miss, but win one of the lottery picks. Jazz might be just good enough for the playoffs as well. And in that case, we lose our 1st-round pick.

And honestly, Oden is a terrible comparison. Oden was a great defender coming out of school, while Kanter has been compared to Boozer because of his supposed solid offensive game and weak defense.

I was going with "Oft Injured" rather than play style. :)

Weaknesses: One of the big concerns scouts have with Kanter is his physical health. He has had a history of knee problems and there are concerns about his knees not checking out 100% when he has NBA physicals …

I'm no expert, but if they're worried his knees won't check out 100% at the NBA level, I don't like where that's heading.

The worst thing that could have happened to Utah was Jackson being hired as GS's coach. They are going to be AWFUL next year. Awful. Trade that pick because it is worthless.

True. I do think more than likely we will have one of those picks. I see the Warriors improving, but not making the playoffs. Not with Jackson as coach. If I had to guess, I would say the pick will be around 10, and we could package that with Al or Harris to move up. If not, then f***.

This.

This draft is like a mirror to me, very much give and take, whatever you do at 3 instantly reflects what will happen and who will be there at 12.

If the Jazz go Kanter at 3, then Cavs probably take Valanciunas at 4 and you'll see guy like Biyombo get taken earlier than the Jazz. That also means that it is very likely that one of Jimmer or Walker will be there at 12.

If you go Knight at 3, then the Cavs take Kanter, moving Valanciunas down, and Biyombo so the likelihood of one of those guys being there at 12 jumps considerably.

The Jazz will have to have a strategy planned going in beyond taking the BPA.

Nice insight.
