The Story of the Shammgod Crossover

...you mean the story of the "I just palmed the ball so flagrantly without the refs calling the violation....that Naismith rolled over in his grave twice!"

..I started watching it and decided half way through, about 2 minutes, that there was no need to waste another 2 minutes of my life watching trash basketball!

me love me some jamal crawford crossover.

When wasting one's life, you should always go with what makes you happiest. Me, I walk in farmer's fields hunting for arrowheads. Very relaxing.

I gotta say CJ is right on this one. That move at 0:40 was flagrant travel. You cannot establish a pivot, move around that pivot repeatedly, then lift the pivot foot without dribbling regardless of if you have a shot at the basket.

I will add that the Shamgod move, that of dribbling the ball ahead of you then reaching out with the opposite hand and dribbling it back across the body to change direction, is legit. Done correctly the palm is always down.

In other words you think that CJ is right because the move can be done wrong? Okay.

Edit: Are you sure the move at 0:40 is the one you were referring to. It doesn't look like what you are describing to me.

Edit again: Ahh, you mean the move that ended at 0:40 and started at 0:31. At first I just went to 0:40, watched the next move, and thought WTF?

He can't help his parents named him that. I think he wanted to change his name when he was 19 but didn't have the money at the time.

"Before he went off to college, Shammgod changed back to his birth name. People warned him that being called God Shammgod would bring unwanted scrutiny. Thing is, that was his real name, and he said Providence wouldn’t allow him to be referred to as Shammgod Wells unless he legally changed the name, which would have cost $500. That was money he didn’t have.

“I didn’t think it was a big deal like everybody else thought it was a big deal,” Shammgod said. “At the end of the day, it worked out. Between the way I play and my name, it just all goes together. I can’t see myself being named anything else.”
