The Jazz sat on their asses and let MULTIPLE better younger players rot on the bench for years.
Why does anybody have faith in this joke of a front office?
Lindsey was signed in August 2012 when my google skills don't fool me. That's after the draft process and that's when he could start working the Millers. It doesn't really matter if they were on board with a fast rebuild ASAP or if that stance developed through the 12/13 season. You can't really hate Lindsey for anything other than what he did this summer. If he tried to move their vets last summer just look how often late summer trades happen. And during the season, Jefferson and Millsap are not difference makers in a championship run when you trade for them. What would he have gotten in return? long term money with late 20's draftpicks? I'd rather have the expiring of Jefferson than 3 years Gerald Wallace.
The one who is to blame would be the ownership. KOC is only in the background using his connections.
I admit that Phoenix has done a good job to gather draftpicks, but their development is way behind. They have a good guard duo and they'll struggle mightily developing high draftpicks only in the next years. Dragic at this point no matter how well he plays is really hard to move. Look at rosters. Maybe Houston and Indiana might be interested. But that's about it. Milwaukee and the Lakers might be interested if things develop in certain ways. But they won't get much for him in return. Other teams either don't want a prime PG cause of rebuilding and those who are past it are already set at this position with an equally skilled guard. So let's see what Plumlee, Bledsoe and Len do over the whole season. I don't even know if the Morris' twins are in their long term plans. PJ Tucker would be another piece they'd try to cash in on. Very good wing defender, one of the best against LeBron last season. And like Philly, if they continue to win teams will actually start preparing for them. They won't be able to keep their good start going and their young players aren't really younger than the core of the Jazz. Bledsoe is 4th year(turning 24), Plumlee 2nd year(age 25) and their new rookie Len and Goodwin haven't contributed to winning yet. They'll prolly struggle mightily. And they can'T play the Morris twins, Dragic and Tucker 40 min every game. They have a similar approach to development, their situation is very different though.
Their assets are less developed than the younger Jazz pieces and it's sometimes bad luck. I can understand ownership not wanting to tank two years in a row. Just think what they might have gotten for Jefferson Millsap last season if they tried to unload them.
Now be patient and don't complain about front office spending until the Jazz don't extend/drop/trade the first player not wanting to pay luxury tax. That would be a real shame. OKC will regret their moves once their stars leave in 3 years or they are forced to trade them like the Magic. What I liked about the Magic though: They were never afraid to spend and risk. It didn't pan out. They'll learn from there and they're in a super fast rebuild mode that might get them into the playoffs in 2015 again.
