Your personal experience? I do not doubt you. Why you include outlier state instead average? Gun murder is most high in low cost state.

so not gonna produce the evidence or stats?
or you got pwned en decided to cry in a corner in fetal position.

I think the presence of some sort of big city is what mainly affects the value of the $ for the state as a whole.

Is Washington really that much better than Oregon? Or is just that Seattle is a bigger hub than Portland, so that affects the average value of the $ within the state the most?

It's the price of real estate, which is always higher in bigger cities. If someone did a study on cost of living and re price the correlation would probably be close to 1.

-------

Talking about COL based on state rather than metro is a useless discussion. For example, COL in SLC is possibly 20-25% higher than in Provo. The same as the quality difference between the Utes and BYU.

Yeah right where's your source Sean Hannity?

That Alaska rape rate is troubling. Why aren't they in the news as much as Florida?

It more than doubles the rate of most other states! Crazy. I was thinking maybe it had to do with skew from low population, but we don't see the same for other low population states, like Vermont or Wyoming.

Kind of the same thing with Louisiana and Arkansas. On average, Arkansas is much nicer than Louisiana, but Louisiana has one city that is a much bigger hub than anything Arkansas has.

what's nice about Arkansas? I've always wanted to visit Louisiana...
