There's a large, relatively affluent population in the Bay Area that goes nuts over the Warriors. San Francisco + Oakland + San Jose is over 3 million people easily. Going to Warriors and Giants games is becoming a hip thing for Silicon Valley techies to do, and a lot of Asians really dig basketball for some reason.

As for earthquake safety, maybe the arena is just supposed to float off into the bay.

Well yeah if you originally included Oakland and San Jose then you would defenitly include the entire east bay and the northern cities!!

I hope just as the arena is finished, the pier collapses and it sinks into the ocean (with no one hurt, of course). The Tankers deserve nothing but bad luck.
