THE WEST

With 14 of the leagues top 15 players now residing in the WEST I think its time for Silver to pull the trigger on some major playoff changes.

Top 16 teams regardless of conference now make the playoffs with 1 v 16, 2 v 15 etc etc.

I think the NBA needs to really consider this, last years playoffs was garbage and you cannot continue to roll that out to the public.

If its not this year I could see this happening in the near future. Something players may want to consider if they think the EAST will be an easier path.

I have thought this should happen for as long I can remember.

Imo the point of the playoffs should be to get the 2 best teams in the finals. Secondary should be just getting the best teams in the league to play against each other.

I think the nfl and MLB should do it too.
Then you could have huge rivalries go against each other in the superbowl or world series too.

Denver vs KC, green bay vs chicago, Philly vs dallas, red sox vs yankees...... none of these teams can face each other in the championships currently.

The All-Star Game format should be changed...no more East vs. West, it just won't be entertaining at all. Might have to follow the NFL pro-bowl format and create a Team Magic and Team Bird and they pick their teams...
Either that or just get rid of the ASG. I'm cool with that too, it's been a joke the past few years anyway.

Especially after the Bucks trade Giannis to Denver for peanuts.

Except the Jazz were better than the Celtics but the Celtics had a better record. The NBA would have to normalize schedules or the east is still an easier path. Eastern teams would end up with higher seeds than they deserved and thus easier matchups.

I actually agree with this a lot. I think the East vs. West format is outdated. Just take the best 16 teams and then let the playoffs be a true tournament.

For reference. . . This is how it would have shaken out last year.

1 vs. 16 - Warriors vs. Bulls
2 vs. 15 - Spurs vs. Trailblazers
3 vs. 14 - Rockets vs. Pacers
4 vs. 13 - Celtics vs. Bucks
5 vs. 12 - Cavs vs. Hawks
6 vs. 11 - Clippers vs. Grizzlies
7 vs. 10 - Jazz vs. Thunder
8 vs. 9 - Raptors vs. Wizards

Highest ranking team face the lowest team to advance and so on. . .

The year before, Chicago would have edged out Houston for the last spot.

Two years ago, OKC would have beaten out the woeful Nets as the final team.

Three years ago, Phoenix would have edged out Atlanta.

If the Bucks want to trade Giannis for peanuts, it should definitely be to Utah.

Gobert, Hayward and the Greek Freak is a badass Big 3.
So sad that Utah passed on him for Burke. That would be beautiful.
