What's new

there's been plenty of talk, but I'm gonna be the first to do it....

I guess they like the way you say it. Whatever.

I got your joke about Roger and saw the sarcasm. Still don't know what got the panties in a wad.

Yes, but that was due to Corbin's refusal to run anything else. Ball went inside to Al and disappeared for 10 seconds. Everyone just stood around because they knew it was senseless to waste energy moving around. Jefferson would then try a few fakes, draw the double team and shoot anyway. Or occasionally, maybe he'd have to adjust his shorts so he'd throw the ball back to Watson or Tinsley, dislodge his wedgie and then get the ball right back.

With some ball and player movement, there's actually a chance for Burke to run the P&R or Hayward to drive to the basket and if the double comes, throw it outside for a 3 pt shot. That's why I think having Hayward and Rush, who are both 40%+ from the 3 is a good idea.

I can understand the argument of having Burks in an up-tempo offense. But really, most possessions are going to be played in the half court. And Alec with the starters isn't going to be the one bringing the ball up, even if they do get out and run...that will be Trey, with Derrick and Gordon on either side.

Dig my eyes out with a rusty spoon.

Anyone think Hayward should come off the bench? He has had issues in the past not being assertive enough in the starting lineup, maybe that continues.

The fact that Huge seemed unwilling to even try to be anything other than a want to be ***. If he doesn't agree that is fine. Explain why. Like you have. But no Huge just wants to be a jerk and I for one will call him (or anyone) on it.

Benching Hayward has shown an ability to light a fire under him in the past I do not think he should be benched starting out but it should remain an option depending on his play.

After reading this thread I'm not sure of anything.

Isn't that great though. So much unknown with this team and so much potential. I can see 4-5 guys that could just blow up and go rough shod over the league this year. How will the mesh? How will Corbin adjust to his new team dynamic? Will Burke figure out the leasons of SL? Has working with Malone really helped Favors and Kanter? Has Hayward finally gotten his aggressiveness and confidence under control? Can Burks improve his FTs and Js to go along with his elite ability to get to the rim and become a nightmare for opposing teams?

He doesn't have Al and Millsap to bow down to, and completely stall the offense, because they didn't pass once they touched the ball.

Terrible excuse and complete hyperbole. The fact is Hayward has had a history of being passive in the NBA and coming off the bench has increased his aggressiveness. The coaches wanted Hayward to do more, it was his own mentality that held him back. I expect him to be more aggressive, but who knows, maybe he will feel the need to be passive since the Jazz have a starting 5 that is pretty equal across the board.

Jazz have given him the green light to be the leader. He'll be vocal on offense, while Derrick may be the leader on defense. I think since both of them played with the US team, they won't see the other three starters as being "equals." They know they're a notch above in perceived talent and authority.

Offense with Al and Sap didn't fit Hayward's game. Back then. It does now because he has become a better shooter. Before he was a slasher playmaker. Defenses Would take away his slashing oppertunities by packing it in the paint to defend Al and Millsap, and Hayward's playmaking consisted of him throwing the ball in to Al and Sap in the post every last damned possession! When ever anyone went from starter to bench player seemed to have an up tick in numbers and aggressiveness.

Not saying he should, just something to think about. Hopefully Hayward has learned he needs to be in attack mode more often.

Please don't upset the groupthink.
