Ok, in spurts & against other bench opponents both Kanter & Favors have shown glimpses of being starter. I'm now thinking ahead & brainstorming who they should target as our 3rd big...
Before I go on, I want to throw a CRAZY WATP:
UTA = Kevin Martin / Kendrick Perkins / Perry Jones / TOR's 1st (btw 9-12th pick)
OKC = Paul Millsap / Randy Foye / Marvin Williams / GSW & UTA's 1st
Why UTA = Still keeps us in the hunt this season, as we pick up future assets in Perry & TOR's 1st. The only killer drawback is Perkin's add'l 2 years of 19M salary (3rd big?)
Why OKC = Their biggest deficiency is their offense post game & Paul could solve that problem. Paul keeps them athletic & Foye scoring w/ Marvin's offsets KMart (deeper). Essentially their Harden trade nets them Millsap, Lamb, 3 mid-round picks, & losing Perkins' contract.
Projecting the FA market for PGs, Mo may be out best option as our future PG would be in this year's draft. This is why I think a trade w/ OKC works as trading "UP" with TOR's pick is a goal to snag that PG in the lottery vs mid-rounder.
So there you go, Perkins is my option as our 3rd big going into next season. Start Favors/Kanter & have Perk & a face-up/stretch 4 as our bigs!
This obviously means that we wont be bringing back Al, as he may cost 4/40M+ to resign.
Bigs other than Al, Paul, Perkins (in my order of preference)...
- Byron Mullens (CHA matches qualifying offer but he compliments Favors/Kanter's game)
- Elton Brand (perfect 3rd, as he's a vet who can mentor Enes/Favs, 3/21M)
- Chris Kaman (best all-around big, 3/24M)
- Carl Landry (has a player option of 4M, so I would thing 5-6M+)
- Andray Blatche (may seek another big contract, as he shown this season that indeed can play)
- David West ($$, starter 8M+)
- JJ Hickson (see West)
- Samuel Dalembert (rather have a more offense guy or atleast a scarier big, ie Perk)
- Jermaine O'Neal (may only sign w/ a championship contenter)
- Zaza Pachulia (meh)
- Cole Alrich (how many of us loved him in the draft?)
I know that this topic should be made for the Summer but I just want to throw out all the available bigs & project the plan of attack our front office has with it comes down to trading Al & Paul.
