This fans dilemma

I hate watching the Jazz lose and dread watching when they win.
A team I have been a solid fan of since 1979. I have trouble cheering for them to lose it just feels wrong. I know they need to lose to retain this years draft pick but I still have problems watching them do so.
What makes this fans life even more difficult is knowing they need to lose makes each victory far less enjoyable than it should be. I no longer look forward to the next Jazz game and only watch if I don't happen to be doing something else. I just hope this draft pick is worth it, if we even wind up getting it.

Just take solace in it's the last year it will happen.

I’ve invested heavily in myself and my family since we blew it up and it’s been absolutely fantastic. I’d recommend a similar approach.

I just want the young players to get a lot of burn and opportunities to make mistakes and grow on offense.

I also want more accountability on defense. The lack of communications and rotations is abysmal.

Ya it sucks. I watch a little less jazz bball than a normal season. (usually I watch 99.9% and this year its more like 85%). I also root for young players to play well and when they do I get joy from it. But I do root for the jazz to lose each game which is a yuck feeling. I think the only game I truly rooted for the jazz to win this season was the 4 point play key three at the end and they actually lost that one lol.

Just 4 more months of this crap hopefully.

I feel ya.

I feel ya I’ve been in the same boat.

Whats worked for me this year was convincing myself what I cheer for has no influence on what actually happens. Simplify, stop worrying about the long term cause that’s someone else’s job to do, and just think about each game in microcosm.

Intellectually in the back of my head I know it’s better if they lose. But it’s funner to cheer for them to win so I do that. I’ve started enjoying watching games again, which I haven’t at all the last two years.

Course this only works if it looks like they are trying. Once the more obvious losing strategies start coming out the illusion shatters and it’s no fun. So far this year though that hasn’t been the case.
