I have thought about this for years but I keep getting so annoyed with it. So the other night I am watching the Arizona/Utah game live and I am recording the Jazz game which is running at the same time. At the bottom of the screen it keeps showing all the scores up to-date. So I keep trying to not focus on it so I see the Jazz score but...... of course I see it.

Why do sports channels think its still necessary to do this? If I want to know the score of another game its takes me 5 seconds to search that up on my phone. In this day and age sports fans are recording other games to watch later. We don't want to know the other scores. This is very true during football season when on Saturdays and Sundays there are multiple games playing all at the same time.

Anyway sorry I just had to rant.

Actually I agree with Beantown 100%.

The worst is having Olympic stuff that hasnt aired yet on the ticker. If I want to know what happened I can def figure it out on my own.

not a perfect solution, I realize, but can't you set the aspect ratio on your picture so that the bottom line is cut off?

Y'all remember the ticker thing used to only come on every half hour?

It was at like the :27 and :57 mark of every hour.

Better solution is to cover the bottom of the screen with something.

Easy to do if your tv is on top of an entertainment center and not mounted on a wall.

The ticker phenomenon happened after 9/11.

All the news stations had 24 hr tickers cuz there was so much info coming out all the time.

Now we just get 24 hr tickers even when there is nothin to ticker about.

Lol that can't be good for an LCD screen.

Masking tape would do nothing to it. Use painter's tape which comes off of un-set (but dry) paint even. Don't use electrical or duct tape, but masking tape would be fine.

Or if you are worried about masking tape hurting the plastic on the LCD screen, just use scotch tape.

Is it me or does Beantown seem like a grown man who loves to whine...like a lot? Or maybe cry is a better word.

For the first time in my life I think I actually agree 100% with Downs. My favorite is watching a UFC event and having the results float across the bottom every five minutes. I finally got to the point that there is a stack of dvd's next to the tv that are used soley to line up along the bottom of the screen during any fight card.

I freaking H8 tickers!
