Potatoes are ****ing magic and will be the tool used to unify this country.

Scalloped, french fries, mashed, hash browns, baked, au gratin, roasted, potato salad, potato chips, potato skins, potato soup. All fantastic.
Hell, when I was a kid my mom would slice raw potato and give us kids the slices and we would eat them raw with a little salt sprinkled on. Even that is pretty damn good.

Presented with an opportunity for a wholesale rejection of a highly divisive, race-baiting, xenophobic, media-hating, anti-science, lying, juvenile incumbent, a sizable swath of America's voters decided to take a pass and pull the lever for Donald Trump, and that speaks volumes about who we are as a nation.

But all this didn't happen in a vacuum; the world has been watching.

The United States of America took a big hit on the global stage on election night.

Presented with an opportunity for a wholesale rejection of a highly divisive, race-baiting, xenophobic, media-hating, anti-science, lying, juvenile incumbent, a sizable swath of America's voters decided to take a pass and pull the lever for Donald Trump, and that speaks volumes about who we are as a nation.

But all this didn't happen in a vacuum; the world has been watching.

I have been wishing I didn't make this thread since just about the time I made this thread.

I've been avoiding it.

But bottom line here is that we needed to send a clear signal to the U.S. and the world that Trump is not an acceptable representative of who we are. We have failed to do that. We made clear that if Biden wins it will be close. It will be a 49.5 to 50.5 type of situation where half the country still feels pretty good about Trump being our President.

That is a loss.

Biden might be our next President (might), but the purge that is needed in the Republican party is not going to happen. It will remain the party of Trump.

If you're reading this and are happy about that (half of the U.S. apparently is) I'm here to tell you that you are the worst of this nation. You are an anchor on your fellow countrymen. You are a national embarrassment.

This goes beyond a difference of opinion. Trump is working, HARD, to undermine our national ideals and our standards within this constitutional republic. He has put down his twitter phone and turned off his OANN broadcast so that he can work to destroy us from the inside. If you support Trump you support the end of the U.S. as it has existed over the last couple hundred years. You don't love America. You are trying to destroy America.

So yeah, I wish I hadn't made this tread. But it doesn't change how I feel about the people who are working against this nation. I don't like what Trump supporters are doing.

When I was a kid, there was an urban legend saying that if you ate raw potatoes, you'd get a fever. Naturally, I figured that was an excellent way to get out of school. Didn't work. Just tasted really, really gross.

Potatoes are a member of the nightshade family. It was the Incas in Peru that first started farming them. The first potatoes were toxic. The Incas discovered that if they took the tubers above the frost line and let them freeze that when they thawed the toxins could be washed away. Over the centuries they did breed the toxin out of the tubers but the sprouts and leaves are still poisonous.
