What's new

This may not warrant its own thread.....

Just so you know. I'm from Kentucky, somewhat of a redneck, and generally feel Europeans suck at basketball. and tbh.. are deficient in every way.

I wish you wasn't trolling :(

What do NBA decision makers know about Hollins that ol UGLI doesnt?

Not sayin I'd be jumping for joy if we hired him, but he seems like a better coach than about half of NBA coaches.

What's the deal?

I wouldn't touch Hollins demanded salary in a million years based on what he did. He coaches a team with 3 all nba team calibre defender, 2 strong playmakers and an ISO mismatch. Sorry but you can't do nothing wrong with that.

Yall's BBIQ is lower than Burks' tbh.

Owww that's the ultimate insult.

I wouldn't want Karl for 1 reason. His inability to stay healthy(prostate cancer has horrible healing ratios), but I'd take him over Hollins easy.
Edit: I even forgot he had a Head and Neck cancer as well in 2010.
Hollins had a very good team and got above average results, Karl had an average+mismanaged team and got above average results.

Um...you do realize he might be the only coach with a worse defensive philosophy than Corbin?

He does have a bunch of slow unathletic mormons playing defense for him doe.

Kinda hard to play great man defense with that so he has to resort to lots of zone defense which is actually pretty decent

His teams win tons of games every year and get into the dance quite often with a roster of slow white guys that rarely ever get drafted.

I think franklin or green should be the coach.

Anything is better than ty corbin tbh

Guys franklin has to be right. I mean Boozer backs him up.

Aaron Falk: Here you go, Twitter. Carlos Boozer on the Jazz: "Very athletic group of guys. Well coached. I know Jerry (Sloan) is in the mix somewhere." Twitter @tribjazz

Boozer is such a twit.

Damn straight. I might be the only person that would do a worse job than Corbin. I'd run a Coach K team. Play nuts out on defense and I don't care what you do on offense, just move.

Yeah, I'd suck.

All the guys I really would have liked got jobs last year.

Brad Stevens, Jeff Hornacek and Brett Brown. This is the type of hire that I expect from DL next year. I wouldn't complain too much about a veteran guy like Karl or Hollins being brought in, but I don't expect it. Aside from salary demands, I just don't see it as realistic. Could be wrong though.

George Karl's health issues are my biggest concern about him. I think he gets a lot from his teams and I like his pacing and defense. I'd love to see what he could do with an athlete like Wiggins in his arsenal.

Lionel Hollins seems a little too old-school for what DL wants to do. He's tough and would improve the quality of the team, but I don't know if he's the right fit.

I do know that Ty Corbin is not the answer. Simple as that. They have to move on. I honestly have no idea which direction Utah will go, but they must have a new coach next year if they ever want to be successful.

By the way, I think this is a great thread. I just wish there were more ideas being shared. I honestly have no idea which coaches would be a good idea for the Jazz next year and I'm interested in hearing the various names thrown about.

For those who know better, who are some young, up-and-coming coaches that get a lot out of their players and play at a fast pace? I'm assuming that an emphasis on analytics is a must. Those, IMO, are the guys the Jazz will be looking at next year. Brad Stevens would have been perfect - damn Celtics.

You would think Burke could add a couple assists and Favors add 6 points a night if they would run.

Exactly. I think that Favors, Burke and Burks would all fit well into a faster offense. Don't know about Hayward, Kanter and Gobert, but I'd like to think that at least one of them would play well at a faster pace also.

I don't think it should matter if running fits the current players or not. Get players that can run and play fast. Trying to play some other way is just squandering a built-in advantage that the team has, playing half their games at altitude.

Running wears teams down, but so does physical contact. Setting screens and fighting for position also require oxygen.
