What's new

Thomas Jefferson quote.

I'm sure you've heard me say multiple times how creating a welfare society is highly beneficial to the business class as it boosts demand without boosting productivity, which squeezes the purchasing power out of the hands of the working class and places it right into the pockets of the business class. Growth is America's false God, and that's what Obama's stimulus and republican tax cut stimulus was all about--benefiting the two edged sword that is business.

Our economic platform for the last 30+ years has focused on doing just this. Although highly overstated and self inflicted in many ways, the growing wealth divide as a consequence should not be a surprise.

Healthy redistribution of wealth requires action on both the taxation end and welfare end. The rich need to see a new Teddy R. and the poor old folks need to go bake some ****ing bread or run a donut stand like they did in the 1980's and before.

^^pre-MSM sane republican days^^

But here's the rub. In order to set up any "heallthy redistribution of wealth" under government authority, you are empowering Franklin's two wolves with the power, under force of arms and law----democratic power though it may be---to have the lamb for lunch.

We have gone a long way towards that already, though we haven't done so with an actually worthy purpose as you and some of the thinkers/founders who created our government in the first place might have approved, in the line of inventing a mechanism for protecting us from conspicuous accumulators.

Look at the process SNWA, the Southern Nevada Water Authority, is going through in its application to drain the Great Basin acquifers to enable more growth in Clark County, Nevada. There have been many hearings, and voluminous EIS drafts and now a final report, and some court manuevers, as well as a hefty excise tax on the value of water right title transfers trying to keep the competition, mostly pretty cashless, from buying up water rights and holding them for litigation "ransom" later. I've been to many of the meetings. And paid my excise taxes on the water that is being stolen from me. But I'll never be able to afford to go to court and make SNWA pay for it.

Like NGO operations, any puppet show is going to be run by people who have the time and money to be involved. That's not most of us. The basic idea is a page out of cartel logic. You crowd out the competition and make it unprofitable for them to get into the game, and push them out of the room. With an EIS and a lot of history of holding public meetings, Harry Reid and SNWA can say the people have had their say, though they controlled the discussion all along. And the bottom line is that Harry Reid and his backers/beneficiaries----the well-connected fascists that they are---- have outwitted the two democratic wolves, and eaten the democratic lamb themselves.

I think if we will ever reduce the propblem of privilege in human societies or government, it will just require people to decide they won't stand for it.

If we are going to be lambs in the midst of wolves, we need to become effective in speech and influence, just as effective as the wealthy are with their cash. And otherwise capable of defending our property and rights.
