What's new

Three missed FG's and fumble returned for a TD.

Personally, I don't think coaches recruit very good kickers. I think they neglect this area and it's biting'em in the butt. Cal, BYU, and Utah St. all had kickers kill them today.

I get that you can't always have King Louie or Adam Vinatari on your team. But kickers should be automatic to 40 yards and pretty consistent to 50. Instead, we see kickers struggling to do anything beyond PATs. And even then, Urban's Ohio St. guy missed a PAT, Boise St. had their dream seasons go down the toilet with kickers missing chippies, and BYU failed to punch the game into OT off a pretty easy FG attempt. Perfect conditions, hardly any wind, not long distance, etc.

BYUs kicker who missed 2 FG's and had one blocked was very highly recruited and was supposed to be one of the best kickers. They should have let the guy who filled in for him the first 2 games while he was recovering from back surgery kick.

I remember him in HS. He had a great leg but wasn't very accurate.

I agree to a degree but then don't too. The problem is there just aren't a lot of good kickers. Even at some great football programs. My friend and I always talk about this...that from a young age, we could have our boys (once I have some tykes) kicking field goals at a young age... Maybe have them go to a football camp for it. You want to see someone you know in the NFL? Have them train to be a kicker.

I didn't see Trout making excuses here .. I saw him being real about his own team. A fair post .. especially after a loss to the most hated rival.

I don't know where to put this but I have a real question here. If BYU makes that last field goal do they forfeit before OT, and leave, because the attempt was made at 11:58?
