Personally, I don't think coaches recruit very good kickers. I think they neglect this area and it's biting'em in the butt. Cal, BYU, and Utah St. all had kickers kill them today.
I get that you can't always have King Louie or Adam Vinatari on your team. But kickers should be automatic to 40 yards and pretty consistent to 50. Instead, we see kickers struggling to do anything beyond PATs. And even then, Urban's Ohio St. guy missed a PAT, Boise St. had their dream seasons go down the toilet with kickers missing chippies, and BYU failed to punch the game into OT off a pretty easy FG attempt. Perfect conditions, hardly any wind, not long distance, etc.
