I've decided to take a vacation from the NBA. Last night was the first Jazz game I skipped completely (other than a couple non-televised games) in over 21 years. The Jazz games have been so important to me that I even told my wife before we got married, she better understand that I will continue watching every game, and if she couldn't accept that, we'd have a problem. This season, I find myself somewhat depressed after every game, even the ones we win. The offensive sets are horrible. We have couple players that can score off these high screens. Sometimes it works, but it is never fun to watch. I have enjoyed every season I watched with the Jazz (Corbin years were a bit difficult, and I admit to multitasking during games, but looking back, the sets were more enjoyable to watch than what we are running now). Hell, I think my favorite seasons were 04-05 (26 wins) and 05-06. Young teams that had to run good sets and play together to get any wins.

I think a lot of the current issues stem from the Jazz going from an owner that loved basketball, the players, and the organization (LHM), to a cold corporation that is run by a board of directors that wants to make money. I don't think they care if we win, other than to keep the $$$ coming in. I think part of it is a flawed jump into pure analytics, that don't take into account that basketball is a game of runs, fueled by emotion, etc. There are a lot of NBA teams trying to run the same ****ty offensive sets we are. There is no art to it.

I know I grew up spoiled watching Layden and Sloan's teams during what I think was one of the golden age for basketball. Watching the Celtics, Pistons, Bulls, Blazers, Jazz, Lakers in those years, I saw something truly special, and amazing to watch. Those of you that missed it, I feel horribly bad yet jealous of you. You missed something truly special, but because of that, you don't realize what you missed, and you can tolerate the current play.

Maybe I'll be back next season, but this is my last post until at least until summer league, and most likely even longer.

Sorry, but that's a crock of ****. Out of Greg and Larry, Greg is the only one to have ever paid the luxury tax. The Jazz aren't getting rich by missing the playoffs year after year. If anything, they seem to be taking the long term approach to hopefully building a serious contender. If there was any truth to your claim, they would have signed/traded for some short term band aids to try and make the playoffs this year. I get that people are disappointed with the results this season, but some of the complaining Is getting a bit silly.

Not to mention all the 10-day contracts Greg has signed off on over the years as well as buying our own D-League team, and being the first NBA team to invest in P3 to service our entire team.

You bring a necessary balance to this site, but I had to laugh at all the qualifying (in red).
