The Memphis Grizzlies are 11-14 this year and there is word the team is looking to trade players such as O.J. Mayo(notes) and 2009 No. 2 overall pick Hasheem Thabeet(notes). But the team is denying such trades are in action.
"We are not trying to trade O.J. or Hasheem," said Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "We haven't had any conversations about them, and I should know because I'm the one making the decisions."
The 7-3 center Thabeet is averaging a dismal 1.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and .6 blocks per game while 2008's third pick overall, shooting guard Mayo, is averaging 12.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Thabeet obviously sucks, but OJ Mayo would be a nice player here. I would gladly take Mayo for our Harpring TPE, but if they wanted players I would also give them CJ or Hayward. Thoughts on possible trades to get Mayo that the Grizz might go for?

You'd have to pull the trade of OJ for CJ. Do that in a hearbeat.

I love CJ, but a CJ for Mayo swap would have the potential to be very beneficial for the Jazz...if Mayo isn't broken yet.

Edit: I should have said, "CJ for OJ swap".

Thabeet is worth going for as well. It's still his 2nd year and Memphis giving up on him already would be foolish, but like chem said they are foolish.

Thabeet is horrible. Fes is better and much much cheaper. Still dont know how well Mayo would play in our system. The Mayo for Miles trade would increase our luxury tax as well. if anybody paid attention to last year more than likely we will reduce our tax.

Why would you guys trade CJ? I haven't looked but I think his stats are better then Mayo's stats. If the Jazz are going to get better they need to add better players. Not guys who have similiar stats. Just for the record, I really like Mayo's game but I don't think he is that much better than CJ. Better but not a lot better. Now if we could get Mayo and keep CJ, I would be on board.

Mayo is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than CJ.

Really? Mayo had a good last game. prior to that not to much. not to mention that Memphis demoted him to the bench for a rookie.

Haven't we already gone over the fact that the Grizz are stupid? CJ is having his career-best year, Mayo is having his career-worst year, and the stats are pretty close. I say CJ+ we acquire a 1st rounder somehow should get the deal done.

Pass the Mayo.

I would love to get Mayo on the team.
I have not watched him play much, so this is just based on numbers.
How does he move without the ball, can he shoot off of screens?
How is he defensively?

Maybe Mayo is not playing as well as CJ right now, but I'd be willing to bet just about anything that Mayo will end up being a far superior player than CJ.

I think OJ Mayo would work well in the Jazz's system if he's coachable. I think the front office would be into it, especially if D.Will was in favor of the move. Miles is worth keeping though. A guy who can come in and give instant offense off the bench is an important part of a contending team. Miles' game is still opening up too. I'm wondering if the Jazz could move Okur in a three-way deal. I'm surprised the Grizz are playing OJ behind Henry.

Philadelphia and Toronto might be willing to move players.
