What's new

Today is the day?

I just realized Lionel Hollins worked with Lindsay in Houston. Here is the Jazz short list:

Hollins
Longabardi

In that order. Book it.

DL won't hire, nor will Hollins be on DL's short list for the same reason Memphis didn't bring him back.

I'm so glad KOC is out of the picture. I bet KOC would have kept Big Al and resign Sap. If Ty isn't gone, then we know that DL is not fully in charge of this team.

I thought this as well, but the Jazz are going after Hollins hard. I'd put money down that he is their #1 choice.

They have history, Hollins was successful with Zach Randolf (Kanter), he won, he develop young guys, coaches tough defense, etc.

I don't know if he comes to Utah, because there are better jobs out there [Detriot, Lakers, possibly Denver, Cleveland, Milawaukee, Dallas, Minnesota (but Milwaukee and Minnesota might be the only job worse than Utah, ha ha)].

I'd be shocked if Lindsay hasn't already contacted Hollins.

Hasn't and won't. He did well with Randolph because he's really good. Kanter isn't on that level. Hollins isn't a DL guy. That's all we need to know.

Will they make an announcement? or quietly let his contract run out and find a new coach?

Can I change my vote? Instead of Vogel I am going to go with Adelman as the next coach who won't be coaching next season.

Yea, I thought Adelman announced he wasn't coming back the day after the Jazz defeated him. Not sure why it is news today.

Jazz are going to have to act fast, more competition for the pool of coaches.

Yeah, Milwaukee and Minnesota aren't better jobs at this point.

The Jazz do have an ideal situation for a coach that's just coming in and looking for a good deal. They've a roster that's hardly devoid of talent, a lot of cap room and contract situations, an F.O. that will play ball (and is tolerant of... mistakes), picks, and so on. It's not a big market, but it's hardly the worst situation out there.

I'm sure they will make some sort of announcement either way. If they extend they will do some pr thing, if they don't renew they will make some sort of statement.

I'd be a fan of Mike Longabardi.

I think it will be someone under the radar. Probably not a big splashy name. I wouldn't plucking a top assistant. Anyone but a retread with a history of losing.

Utah Jazz coach Ty Corbin may receive a resolution to his job status quickly. Multiple sources tell The Salt Lake Tribune that Corbin and General Manager Dennis Lindsey are scheduled to meet on Monday, and an announcement concerning Corbin’s position could come soon after that meeting. - Salt Lake Tribune

The sources said Lindsey wanted to take the Easter weekend as a short cooling off period. - Salt Lake Tribune

Are we there yet?

Did anyone else catch dj & kph this morning? Pk was saying he had sources on both sides that said there was an extension offered last season but it took control of certain things away from Ty. It wasn't dollar figures that separated the two sides but the control and the incentives. They were talking more but I only caught a few minutes.

I'm gonna bet Ty stays as coach. The reason? The Millers and a poster here said Ty was baptized into the Mormon Church this past year with Greg and Gail in attendance. If that's the case it's a game changer.

Lindsey is not a Mormon. I doubt he cares.

This is why some people, myself included, believe you are an alt.

Hate to break it to you. Not a dleague thread.

If this is true, this franchise is screwed.
