Top 3!!!

If we get Williams at #3, we better get Singleton at #12 to pick up the former's defensive slack and challenge him in practice every day. To be honest, I think I'd rather have Kanter than Williams. Either way, I will be drinking my *** off on June 23rd. The draft. And my last day of school.

The Cavs are at rock bottom. They're going to look at all top 4 or 5 candidates seriously. The Wolves could completely shift gears based on what the Cavs do.

Basically, there are 3 clear-cut players in this draft, and the Jazz will get the one that the Cavs and Wolves leave for us. The Wolves could possibly trade the pick if they think Derrick Williams is redundant with Michael Beasley or Enes Kanter is redundant with Kevin Love.

I think it's likely that the Cavs take Irving, the Wolves take Kanter (if they don't trade their pick), and the Jazz get their D.Will back. I'm cool with that. Then the Jazz would probably draft a guard with the #12--Brooks, Burks, Fredette, Selby or Jackson.

We are stockpiling assets: Favors, #3 pick, #12 pick, GS pick, Hayward, Jefferson, Millsap, Harris, Miles' expiring, Okur's expiring, hell even Watson as a back-up point for some contending team...all are legit assets at fairly reasonable salaries relatively speaking.

Why am I so luke warm on Williams? His first step does not impress me and his defense is awful. **** it, I'm overthinking ****.

We will be officially stacked at the SF positions if we pickuip both Williams and Singleton, along with being stacked at PF and hopefully Al learns to play center well. This + Devin Harris at PG (not bad at all) and Gordon Hayward at SG?? If our "worst" players are ALJeff and Harris, we are headed in the right direction. Minny PLZZZZ pick anyone but Williams!

I think Derrick Williams has Carmello/Paul Pierce potential and that a front court with D.Williams, Favors and Jefferson would be really bold. I don't see the Wolves picking Williams, at least not to keep. It would muck things up with Beasley and Kevin Love. But I could see the Wolves picking Williams to trade, thereby leaving us Kanter.

Jazzman12's thoughts:

-So fitting that the main pick Utah ended up netting for D-Will ends up being the same pick D-Will was originally taken with.

-While Williams intrigues me, I think Utah should resist the tempation (if there is any) of trading up. Staying put @ 3 and taking Kanter is a huge coup for this franchise.

-Nobody's a bigger Millsap than than me, but if Utah comes out of this draft with either Williams or Kanter, it certainly does make Sap expendable.

-If KOC has any takers, I would seriously consider drafting Kanter and then packaging Millsap and the #12 pick in a effort to move up high enough to select Brandon Knight or Kemba Walker depending on who's still available. I think that Millsap and the #12 is tantalizing enough to get Utah back into the top 5 or 6.

-After the D-Will trade I really wanted to see Utah rebuild this team from the frontcourt out. Jumping to the #3 is the exact stroke of luck Utah badly needed to do just that. Adding Kanter/Williams to the mix is going to make the Jazz a nightmare to deal with up front.

I think there is a better than 50-50 chance the Wolves move the #2 pick and take Williams or Kanter for someone else, getting back another lotto pick and a player they like. They could drop back to 4th or 5th and get Knight or Biyombo.

I could easily see Cleveland taking Williams #1 and Knight #4. They get a potential star SF/PF to replace Lebron and a good young PG to learn under Baron Davis for a season or two. Cleveland though could have a super draft if they gamble and take Irving #1, counting on that Minnesota will take Kanter over Williams, and I don't see Utah taking Williams at #3. He is a cross between Beasley and Millsap, and I don't think Utah will want another undersized 4. So Williams slips to #4 and Cleveland has Irving and Williams.

If Minnestoa takes Irving @ #2, they have to trade the draft rights to Rubio. Just would not make sense to keep him. If they think Rubio will come over, they'll take Enes Kanter. If Minnesota takes Irving, Utah trades the #12 and next years GSW pick for Rubio. Done!

i totally agree with you, i dont see williams as a star player. He dominated in college due to his phsyic which he cant do in nba. We wont be better or worse without him.
About kanter, noone has a certain opinion, but what if he is as good as told by Chad ford? It is worth taking this chance rather than getting stuck on williams. He may eventually become as good as nowitzki, which he holds the nike summit record owned by nowitzki before. I think we r very very lucky to get to 3rd pick this year. Enes and Irving are the two and only players who can actually be superstars. Plus, we can use our 12th pick and Harris or Jeferson to move up and get Brandon knight as well. One center, one pg, add favors, hayward, we have the best young core in the league, who would argue that?
