....exactly! He'd be less effective than Boozer on the pick and roll, that's for sure....and would probably get hurt the first month of the season. But if we could trade Klinko, dump Boozer AND both get the #2 pick and keep the 9th pick....I'd make this trade....but the 76er's won't! Doug Collins is stupid....but he's not that dumb!
 
If Boozer is gone I'd do it. Start Sap and make Brand the new sap. Draft a big like Monroe, Whiteside, Udoh, or Aldrich and start them until Memo comes back. As much as I like Fes I don't think he is ready to start. Having Turner and Dwill making plays for us gets everyone a little moist. Don't lie, you know its true...:D

That said, even if there is something to the report, the Sixers are not doing the trade without #9. Not happening. In fact, the Jazz would have to also include the Memphis pick to have any hope there. And I'd still do it because there will be nothing left at #9 to replace Boozer or fix what's ailed this team since forever and this team's rebuilding efforts are going to take a hell of a lot longer when Deron gets sick of waiting for something to happen. If it doesn't work out, Brand, Okur, and Williams all expire the same year. The rebuilding trajectory in a worst-case scenario with or without this trade is the same.

Get on the ****-ing phone with the only team you ever talk to, KOC. Greg, pony up.

I agree i would still do that to move up as well To get that pick. Be nice if Koc can pull off something great here. After reading some of the 76ers boards they seem to laugh at the idea when it is said and done though.
 
I think Sloan's offense would revitalize a player of Brands caliber... Unfortunately, we have had bad luck with injury prone players as of late.
 
So the offer is what, AK, #9 and Memphis pick for #2 and Brand?

I just want to look at the possible salaries for that. And I'm rounding for convenience.

10-11

Brand: $16M
Williams: $15M
Okur: $9.5M
Millsap: $6.2M (Is this the real cap hit? I know there has been some debate on this.)
#2: $3.9M
Miles: $3.7M
Price: $1.4M
Koufos: $1.3M

$57M for 8 players. 5 more needed. Matthews, Korver? Gaines, Jeffers? Salary cap around 60M? Luxury around 70M?

Not really a big change with Kirilenko and the #9 really. It's the next year.

11-12

Brand: $17M
Williams: $16.3M
Okur: $10.9M
Millsap: $6.7M
#2: $4.2M
Miles: $3.7M (T)
Koufos: $2.2M (T)

$61M for 7 players? Come on. Is that the core you want? Add a probable Matthews at say 4 mil and that's over 65 million for 8 players. So 5 million for 5 players to avoid the tax? I know it's not your money, but I doubt the Jazz are a viable franchise being in the luxury tax every year.

And, contrary to a post earlier, after 11-12, Okur is off, Williams can opt out, but Brand is on the hook for another year near 19 mil. Hell of a thing to think it'll be easy to pass 19 mil off to a team as an expiring without taking on bad salaries in return.

Is Brand worth that crippling of a payroll with fringe players making up 40% of the roster? Quite the gamble.
 
I think you got to do it, if you could match up deron williams with either derrick favors or evan turner, we are that much closer to a title, I think. Just think, what if Brand can go back to his old form and be that 20/10 guy again and we have a backcourt of williams and turner then we would give anyone in the West a run for their money.

I don't know if it's much more than a lateral move. In a sense, that's not too bad since I believe the Jazz this year could have beaten any team in a series not named the Lakers. However, I don't think the move helps that particular conundrum. Counter argument is that keeping AK and the #9 doesn't help in beating the Lakers either.

So in the end, would it be fair to say the only difference is that the Jazz would be more financially screwed with doing the deal than without? And that's assuming Philadelphia would even do that deal.
