I generally wonder if guys on here even watch basketball. He’s better than Clarkson but not by a ton? The worst playoff series Mitchell has had was because of Gordon.

He’s exactly the type of player we need.

So 3 years ago. And now he is 33. And now his DRTG is the lowest of his entire career at -2.5. Yet somehow he is a lockdown defender that will stop the greatest offensive threats in the NBA. I sometimes wonder if you even watch basketball at all. You do know that every year there is a new season, right? You should check them out now and then. Might learn something.

I think Gordon improves our team over Clarkson, but I just don't buy that he's what we are missing.

And yes, comparing his effectiveness on Donovan Mitchell 3 years ago when Houston really only had to stop Donovan and Joe - yeah, I'm not making a decision based off of those numbers.

Am I remembering this wrong or is Eric Gordon not a great defender? I'm not talking bad, just not above average? I know he can score and shoot, I just don't see the need for a 6'3" 33 year old injury prone combo guard right now,
especially considering how few assets the Jazz have. I'd think there are better ways to use what they do have, especially since defense should be the focus on potential acquisitions.

He's a good defender. Not amazing. He's a great fit. He's also slightly overpaid for age and injury history... so I'm not giving up a pick for him. Maybe a lotto protected future pick and JC... and the lotto protected pick stays lotto protected from 2026-2028 and doesn't convey if we are always in the lotto.

There is no deal that changes our destiny. Just try not to eff up too much of our future please.

Gordon is most definitely not worth giving up assets for. This year his D has slipped considerably over his past, similar to what we have seen in Joe. It is an age and injury thing. It happens. He is not that much better than Clarkson and the stats prove that out in spades. He is just not worth it. We can get better for Clarkson if we are patient. He will bring more in the offseason than we can get now. Better to not waste the assets.

Yep. Which is why we should try to get a younger piece if anything (and by younger I just mean in their prime and not an aging and decrepit 33 year old like me).

I really like Locke but his daily today has me a little triggered.

-starts with the lol... no front offices are idiots. Kewl... they may not be idiots... but the do stupid ****... whether that comes from their billionaire owners or the GM trying to save his job. Someone "smart" is doing dumb ****.
-then talks about how if you save 30M by dumping joe you have to do it. I honestly think we have a standing offer from OKC to amend the pick protections for them taking Joe. And we take back nothing. Says that is the smart thing to do.
-You dump the money because no trade is going to bring you a guy that closes... holy **** I am having deja vu @infection . Why add a player that isn't a starter or key rotation player who plays more than 20 minutes a night? you pulling Royce or Bogey off the court? I mean of course you aren't but we act like the 10 minutes Rudy sits don't count or the time other guys are on the court is meaningless or that injuries never happen.... then time and time again we get ****ing blind sided. I feel better about our depth than ever but this line of thinking bugs the hell out of me.
-If you claim to be all in... you don't do money moves like the one we will do with Joe. We likely also dump other salary if we do that move to get all the way under the tax... Rudy Gay or JC. You can't be all in and also hold back. Stop using the phrase.

If there is something out there I'm on board. I think we need to consider moves that prop the window open as long as they fit Donovan and Rudy's timeline. Just don't use a first to do it.

Homie... you need to pay attention to me when it comes to the Kings... I been saying they all in for a while. Vivek doesn't want the loser label. Everyone was like "why would they want Bogey or Royce or Ingles?"

If we aren't contenders right now and we don't have the balls to make a trade to get us there, make a bold move right now. If you are intent on building around Donovan, trade Bojan, Rudy or Conley right now. Look ahead. Don't be stubborn.
