What's new

Trade Deadline

Why is Harris better than Kanter? At least Kanter offers some niche elite skills like offensive rebounding. What does Harris do at an even above average level? Isolation scoring from the PF position?

What is SVG going to do with Harris? The same thing he does with Marcus Morris? But now Morris and Harris are going to have to take turns doing the exact same things. Unless Harris 3pt shot drastically increases this season, I don't see it working.

He is a much better passer and Kanter was the leagues worst defender last year. Harris is not that. If used as a stretch four he presents matchup problems that Kanter does not.

Tiago Splitter is having season ending surgery...maybe it might help Jazz get Teague if we threw in a big like Withey? Withey, Burks, Buke & g.s. 1st for Teague / Korver?

Honestly I'd rather have Kanter as 6th man than Harris. More dominant skills that can be harnessed in 20 minute stretches and are more reliable.

I just see Harris' future as being an unreliable tweener who averages around 12-15 ppg on mediocre efficiency.

I like the Harris trade for both teams.

I would not like Tobias on the Jazz.

All these moving pieces and the Jazz have cap space, I will be very surprised if they are not involved in a trade...at a minimum as a third team to facilitate something for others teams.

The Piston's back up PG is now Steve Blake. Any chance that SVG brings home Michigan's favorite son, Trey Burke?

Does Detroit have anything to offer?

I was thinking about this. It would not surprise me to see Detroit trade for Trey as a backup PG. Maybe the Jazz can get a pick, or involve a third team.

Detroit wasnt willing to give up a pick to get Tobias Harris (that or Orlando is just really bad at negotiating), so I doubt they would give us a pick for a backup PG.

One skill that is not that valuable depending on the team you talk to does not overcome two fatal flaws.

while you were posting this I went looking at Detroits picks credit and debits. According to Draft Express Detroit is not getting anyones picks, but they don't owe their own picks to anyone. I don't think they will give up their own picks, so no they really don't have anything to offer the Jazz. Jazz do NOT need anymore 2nd round picks.

Also, word is coming out that they want a veteran Gaurd. Jameer Nelson playing for Denver is an old SVG guy, he makes more sense.

Pity that the hypothesized trade, Kanter in exchange for Ilyasova of the Bucks, didn't happen last season!

Teams trading easily Ilyasova despite being a good player with an acceptable contract, maybe DL could have materialized that deal.

This is a good point. Withey has value to Atlanta.

I've heard from enough people around the Jazz that Teague is to ball dominant. Don't think that one happens but the thought of fit for withey makes sense.
