Ty Lawson talks are serious and Jazz have committed to ship out Trey Burke ... 12 hours and change left for someone to trump Houston's offer

Yes, if the trade goes through, I think it's the Jazz commitment to ship out Trey Burke that's driving things. Probably a mutual decision that the two sides are better parting ways.

I think Trey can have a decent Mario Chalmers-type career. I could see him playing off of Harden. Nice post, idiot.

For some strange reason, I feel better about this possibility than I did about the Teague talk. Perhaps partly because I was convinced that only Burks + would get Teague, and I feel slightly better about Burks and Lawson than just Teague alone (I actually think as backups, Burks and Lawson could fit reasonably well together.)

I also feel that there's less of a chance of chemistry to go awry. Teague (deservedly) would expect to be one of the team's top dogs. I don't think Lawson would come in with that mindset. If he does, it will be easier to isolate him than it would be to isolate Teague if chemistry problems arose since the price and expectations are so much less.

My view is pretty similar to yours, I think it will also be easier for lawson to take a back seat to exum if he stays on next year. Even though that seems kind of illogical cos all it really means is lawson is the worse player.

Trey is a decent back up PG, and I have somewhat of an emotional attachment to him, but I think this is the type of deal worth taking a risk on. It has the potential to look like a robbery in hindsight.

Growing sense around the league is that the Jazz are poised to go through with the Ty Lawson deal with the Rockets

Ugh. Unbelievable...

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think idiot is right though, I think this is as much about finding Burke a new home as it is the Jazz trying to come out ahead on some deal. While I like Lawson - or at least have - I'm not sure I get the upside here. Because of that, I think the Jazz should get another asset.

Anyone else think this is actually very low risk? From what Andy Larson has been tweeting it seems like Trey wants out and I'm also thinking Utah wasn't going to pay him in restricted free agency anyway. So instead of losing Trey for nothing, we get to shed Tibor or Booker's contract and acquire Lawson. Lawson has a team option for next season, so if he works out for us, we will be solidly in the playoffs in the next month and he can back up Dante next year. If he doesn't work out, Utah doesn't exercise his team option and we essentially trade Trey for an extra $6MM or so in cap space.

I serious doubt we're going to trade Burke and Booker for Lawson, yes maybe for Hill. I expect it will be Trey and Pleiss.

This.

The only risk I see is for lawsons off court and locker room issues to rub off on our core players.

I don't think it will happen but it's a possibility

Nah, it'd only be a risk for the younger players, *maybe*.

Derrick and Gordon already have children now. Do you think Rudy is the kinda guy who'd put aside his playoff aspirations to collect DUIs with Lawson?

We have a strong FO, and an entire roster of high character guys. It'd be quite important to keep Booker because he's close to Lawson's age and I think he's probably our best bet in terms of someone on the Jazz connecting with him.

tl;dr I'm hoping its Pleiss + Burke for Lawson + filler, whether it's Dekker or a protected 1st rounder
