Before the last season kicked off, the Rockets were still after two names even when they've signed Ömer Aşık: Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum. They intended to make one of them sign the sheet. But they gave Ömer what he wanted by topping Bulls offer. The reason for that is they could tell that their chances were not at the greatest when Dwight was talked about having the dream trip to the LA to form a crazy line-up. And Harden-Lin-Parsons have not yet shown off their great games yet, even though Harden was known to be a great baller.
So it went for the 51 % chance instead of %49 and the Rockets didn't land any of the two dominators. But that season, Ömer did his job great. Actually greater than anyone would ever have expected from him, finishing with double-double averages and 3rd best rebounder in the league on averages and the best in total rebounds. So if the Rockets landed one of those players, Ömer was still the substitute center in the team, having about 15-25 minutes in the rotation depending on his performance. He turned the chance that was given to him into golden ticket. And now the league talks about him as an easily starter in any team who doesn't have a major center. It's a frustrating time for Ömer, because he wants to keep the spotlights on him in those cold times, since he know they already started to fade away.
No place for him in Houston as long as they have a healthy Dwight. But when they don't, they are literally ****ed.
Ömer told his coach he wasn't feeling good and didn't play on his purpose last game. Since McHale OK'd his wish, I think Houston time is over for him when they recieve an offer that includes the 4th starting shooter for the Rockets. Like Ryan Anderson from Pelicans.
