Trade ideas

Teams pick and choose all the time and I'm not sure when would it be a bad time to have "too many options". I mean if Keyonte is putting up crazy numbers like Donovan's rookie year then sure, "Hood" can go. But it simply hasn't happened and you are talking like it has.

It didn't hurt Curry's career when he had to share the ball with Monta Ellis. It didn't hurt Luka when DSJ was mavs starting PG coming in and Mavs was able to quickly see the talent that they had and send DSJ packing. If you are talented enough and your team isn't completely ignorant, I don't see how that's a bad thing. I mean we the jazzfans can probably speak from our own experience first hand with this DedEx development project. And how Knicks spent so many years passing up opportunitues to acquire true stars just so they can prioritize the development of RJ Barrett. If Keyonte's good enough then it really doesn't matter who we bring in. It would only motivate him even more to be the best player he can be.
And now RJ balling, they signed an All-Star PG without giving up assets, and they have a truckload of tradeable assets....

And Curry didnt really breakout until later in his career, so he may have been hurt lmfao
Its exactly why its funny. I think Mark Jackson had as much to do with it as Monta but that team took off once they unloaded Monta.

Remember when my worst take ever was liking RJ Barrett and you plus other people wouldn’t stop giving me ****? Good times.

Looks like Lavine's exit off the court is an indication that the situation has digressed to a point of no return.

If Lavine goes to Lakers and Lakers need a 1st rounder to package to give to Chicago, Maybe we can get Reeves in the package somehow??

So I’m starting to think that Lauri-OKC should be a thing we talk about more. If I’m an OKC fan, Lauri is the number one guy I’m talking about.

The idea of trading Lauri sucks to begin with....but I'm not sure this FO is ready/willing to put a team around him. He's a star player with one more year left on his deal on a bad team, the vultures are swarming and rightfully so.

I wish I like Giddey more.

Just read a Lakers article where they think an offer for Markkanen would happen for 2 unprotected firsts and filler salary. They would have to remove the restri tons on the pick we already have. Add some swaps and still have to include reeves.

How would that even work? They owe their '24 pick to NOP, but NOP can choose to defer to '25, so they can't trade those. They can't trade '26, we have their '27, so they can't trade '28.

I'm going to miss Lauri if we trade him :(
Honestly, I dont want to trade lauri. He should be the primary building block for the future. He is my favorite player since Joe Ingles.

I just worry that the Jazz will not be able to put a team around him fast enough.

Ideally building a championship roster has to remain the priority and if that means tanking for a while longer and trading away some of the "older" players I will tray to understand.

They arent going to trade Lauri in the nearby future. Few reasons why:
  • His value is not descending, but ascending. Last year was great but showing that you can do it consistently while having a target on your back is better.
  • Even though Lauri is probably in his prime or close to it, the trade age clock isnt ticking yet. They have time to try and build up the current iteration and hunt for that "big missing piece" this team still needs.
  • I'm 96% sure Lauri would sign a new deal with the Jazz.
The idea that they want to hit the panic button and go full tank is the only real motivation they could have to trade Lauri right now. In any "smart value" scenario its better to trade his next contract, whch also gives you time to see what you got with this group.

Another buy low opportunity here for Tre Jones, who's been playing off the bench for the Spurs this season. Pop for some weird reason prefered Sochan who wasn't even a PG coming into the league.

I mean Jones surely isn't perfect but he does have the pefect profile of a floor general(5.7ast/1.4TO last season) that fits into what the Jazz is looking for and he only has just under 2 years left on his contract and soon needs to get paid. If the Spurs is locked in onto Sochan as their future starting point, Jones can probably be had at a very reasonable price

I like Tre Jones. Plays good defense on the perimeter despite his size hurting him on most matchups.

However he cant play with Sexton due to both being small, and he cant play with THT due to both being bad 3P shooters.. with Ochai there isnt enough off-the-dribble creation in that backcourt.

So he would have to play with JC most of the time. I think that would be a great pair, but the flexibility issues make me say no.

People nuts this site. Always want trade. Trade best player to get future best player to trade again. Nutcake fruits.

I think the Jazz would prefer to keep Lauri. They would move him, however, if they thought this were another Gordon Hayward situation where he might leave without giving the Jazz compensation. Jazz need to ask him if he'd like to be extended in Utah. If they can extend him, then great, keep him. He's got a good situation in Utah to be sure, and the Jazz have assets to improve the team once they add some more young talent.

I value Lauri more than Donovan, player for player. Part of Donovan's trade value was he had multiple years remaining on his contract. But, if we are going to trade Lauri due to vibes that he is not going to resign in Utah, I think it would have to be another huge haul in returning assets.
