Trade Rumor From NBADraft.Net Involving Andre Iguodala And The #3 Pick

I actually like it. Iggy may not be able to shoot but he can create, pass, hit a mid range and finish really well. Most importantly, he is a lock down defender. Then Hawes is huge 7'1 and would be a good backup C. Then Meeks would be an awesome back up SG that shoots 40% from 3 and that was just his rookie year.

With Meeks you can let go of CJ and with Iggy you can let go of AK. In addition, you get rid of Okur. You do have to take on Iggy's contract but getting rid of Okur and not signing CJ and AK sounds like a great deal to me.

Of course if D-will2 or Irving falls then its not the greatest deal. I like Kanter but is it worth taking him knowing he will be a back up for a couple of years?
It comes down to this, would you rather have Okur and the possibility of getting D-Will/Kanter/Irving or get rid of Okur and get Iggy and 2 good bench players?

Have you seen Iggy's contract?

Have you seen his age?

You are a Jazz fan, right? So why would we want to give up assets for an aging overpaid vet? If we were maybe the Celtics or Lakers, this might be a good trade since the time to compete for a championship is now.

But we aren't.

We're rebuilding. We should be doing the exact opposite of this trade. Getting younger, gathering assets, shedding salary, and building for the FUTURE.

He's not wrong.

So you're Nostradamus now? You're 100% sure whoever is drafted at #3 will be better than Iggy, a FIBA World Championship gold medal team member, one of the best wing defenders in the league, a guy who's a career 15.6, 5.8, 4.8, 1.8 guy? Makes sense.

Completely agree. Iggy is proven, Kanter or whoever the number 3 pick are not. Especially in such a weak draft. If this was a stronger draft, I probably wouldn't do this trade

Exactly, Iggy is a great defender and attacker to the hoop. His shooting has improved too even from outside.

Calm down. All of the context wasn't right there in the post I was quoting.

OK So maybe I'm wrong. But who wants to get locked into big money contracts that will hinder future Jazz moves.

That is more what I was agreeing with. I don't think Iggy and the Jazz are a good fit for each other at all right now, but I don't feel that way because I'm an Iggy hater or anything. As far as if #3 will be better or not, only time will tell.

I must say that I always wanted the jazz to get iggy whilst we had dwill - obviously he would have been a major upgrade over bell!!! Obv he is super athletic and a great defender - can drive to the hoop as well, which would be a nice change for the jazz to have a sf who can do this!! I think it is trade that is very close to the mark, because our need for a sg/sf is bigger than our need for a PF/C - as we have AJ, Favors and Milsapp.

I guess the question is, Will this trade for Iggy, etc. make the Jazz a legit contender?

Well Iggy is not super old right now 27. Harris is 28,Jefferson 26,Millsap 26,Ak 30. He would fit right in. No reason age should matter in this discussion.

OK. So let's say Jazz do this trade. What will Jazz depth chart and roster look like?
And who should Jazz draft at #12?
Also Jazz payroll for next couple years.

12 best player available unless harris isn't point guard of the future. This draft is weak and lots of freshman etc so preferably a veteran college player.
