Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Paying $10 mil for that number of minutes quickly makes his contract negative value.

Maybe more importantly, the notion of competing for anything with any of the major pieces we have in place is a fantasy. Get what you can.
Royce is the guy most easily replaced by a minimum player. If you can get value for him while cutting salary you do it.

Trade idea of the day... Washington will be finding a pg... they are the best suitor for Conley. We send Mike to Washington, Washington sends KCP and Ish Smith (salary filler) to Chicago, Chicago send Lonzo to us. We gamble on Lonzo's deal... Chicago rolls with Caruso and Demar/Zach as primary creators. Get an expiring and a wing defender/spacer.

We might get something that fits amazing or he might be broken. Its a big swing. He does a lot to address our needs if healthy.

If we are hell bent on building around Donovan and trading Rudy then you need to land one good wing in the OG deal... OG or PJ Washington (he's a tweener wing big type). Then you have to hit on a distressed asset like Lonzo Ball or say the Hawks don't want to pay DeAndre Hunter and you swing a Bogey for Hunter deal. You'd also like to get a first and you need to hit on that pick or an undrafted FA and find a contributor. You also need to hit on a diamond in the rough FA like @Saint Cy of JFC 's guy Yuta and hope he is able to be a valuable flex piece for 25 minutes a night.

Its a high degree of difficulty and tbh the exact type of moves we have absolutely whiffed on the last few years.

When you trade a high level player like Rudy you get 3 quarters for your dollar... so some of those quarters gonna have to turn into .50 pieces to make us whole.
Hopefully Ainge realize this is impossible and we trade Mitchell or both instead.

Also Donovan's BFF on the team

One of the many team building roadblocks Donovan presents if you want to keep Donnie happy and not requesting a trade to a bigger market

I don't think he finishes his entire career here, but success can change narratives.

Don, Trent Jr, and OG are an amazing trio. Find a PF for those three, and who knows what the ceiling can be if we stay healthy.
That's one of the most mediocre trios in the NBA.

The Kings got a better trio with Barnes/Sabonis/Fox.

I would keep Royce. The more unselfish willing defenders the better. Just imagine how impactful he could be playing 18-20 minutes off the bench instead of 35 as a starter....
Royce value is on a team loaded with playmakers

If the Jazz are going towards a "Donovan does the heavy lifting on playmaking, but we need wings who can take advantage of mismatches" then Royce is a steep overpay.

I might do it as a test if I were Ainge... been saying that for a while. Donovan says "I'm good here" then you trade Royce and see if his tone changes.

Jazz hosted a free agent mini camp with a lot of names I like.

The biggest one to me was Aaron Henry.
It was a great list for a FA minicamp. I would basically guarantee one guy gets a deal next year... either a Henry type or a Tyler Johnson vet type.
