Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

If we're going to trade Rudy and miss the playoffs we might as well trade both and just get a jump start on the rebuild now. Screw the All-Star game.

Jazz are in a pickle, championship teams are not built around 6’1 guards as your #1 scoring option. On a championship team, he needs to be a #2 or even #3 scoring option. Similarly they aren’t built around a defensive center with no offensive moves. Jazz won’t do it cos of the damn all star game. But something tells me not cashing in and blowing it all up now will be a mistake. Go get some young talent and draft capital else we will be mediocre for years to come.

I have faith in Danny Ainge, he has shown time and time again that he can build good teams. I just feel like Ryan Smith is overbearing.

That's a good question. Why are we trading Rudy? If we're trying to win, it is a terrible idea to trade Rudy. But we're discussing a Rudy trade because it seems like it's an inevitability.
Agree with that. Does not make any sense for me. Unless we go for a rebuild and Don will go as well in one year.

Ryan smith is deconstructing the old Jazz of the millers with his own brand. He started in the front office. DL left, Zanick promoted and Ainge brought in. Then coaching staff. Quinn leaves as well as other assistants. I don’t keep up with it but I’m certain some others left via reports. The roster will happen too. He bought the millers jazz team not necessarily the jazz team he wants though.

This is my thinking as well. I wish Ryan would just get the hell out of the way and let Ainge do his thing.

I'm in the minority but I actually think that we end up keeping Rudy and Don. I just hope that we retool the roster around them.

I've felt this way for a long time...despite all the noise I think they are both back next season. In fact, I think most of the core will remain intact next season. I hope we are able to pull off multiple trades, but I'm pretty skeptical at this point.

I think it was Tony Jones that said they will bring the "core 7" back and try again. I'm guessing that means no Juancho or Hassan.

I don't think those were his exact words...he basically said it's possible that they run it back with the top 7, make moves around the margins and hope a new coach with inject some energy into the roster, but he said it's also possible they will make multiple trades.

Keeping both is a recipe for failure.

We will flame out in the first round, Don demands out because he's tired of the same merry go round, and Rudy has even less value.

Maximizing Rudy's value by getting long term youth is the play right now. OG, Collins, Hunter, Huerter, etc all have long careers ahead of them. Even if Don demands out eventually, there will still be useful players on the roster.

Retooling around them:

TRADE 1

Utah Out:

- Clarkson
- Royce

Utah In:

- Isaac

Orlando does this to add some veteran offensive and defensive leadership around their young core.

TRADE 2

Utah Out:

- Conley

Utah In:

- Reddish
- Burks
- Grimes

New York does this to get off the contracts of Burks and Reddish while adding a veteran floor general they desperately need.

TRADE 3

Utah Out:

- Bogdanovic

Utah In:

- Collins

Atlanta does this to get off Collins contract. They get a veteran that can take some offensive burden off Trae and also happens to be an expiring.

UTAH’S LINEUP:

Mitchell
Reddish
Issac
Collins
Gobert

Butler
House
Paschall
Grimes
Gay
Dok
NAW
Juancho
Forrest

This adds length and defense around Gobert and hopeful that Issac, Reddish fulfill their offensive potentials. May need to make a couple of smaller trades to add some another bigger body on the bench.
