It really seems like Chicago is moving on but maybe that is posturing. If Patrick Williams struggles to start the season his trade value TANKS. He is theoretically a good 3 and D big wing. If he doesn't show improvement his the upside premium on his trade value takes a big hit.
Patrick Williams is still just an idea right now. His situation is similar to James Wiseman's in that he's got upside, but hasn't shown much of it and has been injury prone early in his career. If I were Chicago, I'd be reluctant to put Williams in a trade package because no one knows what he is yet. Ultimately, I think they would move him to get a Gobert deal done. The next sticking point is likely to be the Jazz wanting Dalen Terry instead of Coby White.
