Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

But we need to make that their problem and not ours.
I can agree with this. I just don't think we should make locking NY into four more years of Randle a top priority (I don't think we have the ability to do that, to be honest). And I don't think somehow getting the odds stacked against Randle moving on from the Knicks (even as nice as it would be) should be regarded as a deal-breaker.

I’ve seen enough of this general outline to say the following to everyone.

Stop trying to help the Knicks so much. Randle is the key to them being dog ****. Him staying in NY to the best of our ability is central to the plan:

-he is bad salary
-he is a locker room cancer
-he doesn’t make anyone around him better
-he prefers the mid-range, isn’t particularly good there, and puts blinders on in the high-post
-he isn’t really a PnR player
-he is not a spacer and can go on horrendous shooting streaks

Mitchell Robinson also is a bad screen setter. Donovan is gonna be in for a rude awakening when he has no lane and no one setting good screens. It’s perfect.
I get all this. My thinking was to facilitate things so that we'd be the ones that benefited from the Lakers 1st rounders. There's a scenario where we do the two team trade for Donovan, and then NYK does a 2nd trade to deal Randle to LAL for Westbrook (obviously other pieces would be included), and NYK gets a 1st rounder from LAL. But I definitely agree with the sentiment that Randle staying on NYK is good for us if we have their picks.

Do we have a player combination that could get us to a 4 year 17.5 million dollar per year deal for Sexton? Getting him for 2 years would be a waste of our time because if he gets value, he'd be an expiring the next year. The new "moneyball" won't be advanced stats but getting great players (preferably young) on great and long contracts. Those guys are worth more than draft picks IMO. 17-20 million for Sexton when the salary cap is going to explode is a pretty great investment.

Pat Bev + NAW gets us to 18 million. Cleveland would actually have a use for Pat Bev. It also pushes them out of the tank which is good for us too.

The Cavaliers were one of the worst 3P shooting teams in the league last year and don't have a ton of size on the wing. I think the two packages that'd make the most sense would be either Beasley/Gay or Bojan for Sexton.

Supposedly Cavs are offering Sexton 3/40M.... that seems pretty wild. Need to work a sign and trade for him. Have to keep them under the tax and match salary. Send a second rounder or two to grease they palms if we need.
I wonder what the chances are that he just plays next season on the qualifying offer ($8.5M) and then tries his luck in RFA next offseason. As it stands there aren't any teams that can really give him a big offer sheet and there seem to be only a couple of teams (Utah, Miami) that are interested in a potential S&T for him. But both teams interest in him is dependent on if they make other trades.

I'm not sure how the win projections are calculated, but the Lakers go up by 10 wins. That's pretty good. I'm guessing it's mostly based off of moving away from Westbrook and Adding Conley and Bogey.
That's the point. If LA want to win before the end of LB/AD era, that's something they should consider. With those player and if AD is healthy, they will be very good.

I don't really see many scenarios where the Lakers add any sizeable financial commitments beyond this year with LeBron set to hit free agency. I'd imagine that they save their cap space to try and lure a third star to convince LBJ to come back and that he'll sign something like a 1+1 deal next year so he can potentially opt out to sign with a team if they draft his son.

Would you guys consider doing this...

Jazz receive: Jaylen Brown
Celtics receive: Mike Conley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro/Walker Kessler, 2023 1st (via MIN), 2023 1st (via PHI/BRK/HOU), 2025 1st (via MIN), 2027 1st (Via MIN)

I doubt the Celtics do it but it's tempting. Gives us 2 complimentary key players. Most of those picks are the lesser of our pick assets and Boston would know it.

My guess is that they would want Bogdonovic, JC, Beverley, Beasley, Jared Butler + the best picks we have.

The Celtics would never do that. They're a championship level team right now, not a re-building team looking for 1st round picks.

It would have to be a 3rd team involved since Celtics dont want to take a step back like this right now. But this is possible.

For the Jazz if we had an ounce of commitment from Mitchell and Brown I would be interested. I dont think we do from either though. I also think thats a little too much to give based on his contract situation.
