Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

This. Siakam is worse as a perimeter defender and as a 3 pt shooter. Worse fit with Kessler and also overlaps with Lauri. I dont think we would get our money's worth with him. OG is pretty much guaranteed value skillsetwise.. too bad his contract doesnt work for us right now.
OG is younger and I think he's someone like Lauri who could blow up in a larger role, the only issue with him is it's a flight risk after next year.

OG makes $17.3M but we could make it work with Vanderbilt ($4.3M) and some combination of Olynyk ($12.8M), THT ($10.2M), Gay ($6.1M), NAW ($5M).

I'd just be kind of hesitant to give up a ton of draft capital.

Yeah the contract is a turn off for us unfortunately. I dont expect him to like blow up offensively... he doesnt look great with the ball in his hands. But offensively we are very good as is, so replacing KO/Vando with someone who can be at least as good a contributor while providing excellent perimeter defense would be a gimmie.

We still need to stabilize the guard positions, whether it comes with extending JC or not we at least need to find the successor to Conley... so I would first see which area of need we can better address through this years draft and then work to address the more lacking area in the offseason. If we would be able to draft high upside combo guards and there would be no true playmaking PG types available, then that affects the thinking for that 3rd frontcourt guy as well.

I agree with all of that.

And yeah, we need to find a PG and a big wing with some juice on the ball that can score / defend. I know Danny sees it too which is why he was interested in Pat Williams, Hunter, etc this offseason. I would've loved Scoot Henderson but we'll need a lottery miracle for that to happen. Amen Thompson would be a great fit as well but would probably require us trading up. I like Agbaji as a 3&D two guard going forward, hopefully we can work him into the rotation more.

My ideal trio to start alongside Lauri and Kessler is something like this:

All 3 guys must be (at least) good perimeter defenders and 3P shooters.
1 of the 3 needs to be an elite on-ball self-creator
1 needs to be an elite 1on1 defender with super high motor
1 needs to be an off-ball player on offense (can be the same guy as the previous one)

I think Kessler doesnt need the same caliber of playmaker Gobert needed to score more than just putbacks.. because his offensive skillset is better to begin with. But we need 4 guys who can space and defend the perimeter with him in there. Kessler is never gonna be left on an island inside with Lauri being able to help against teams who drive a lot.. but as with Gobert, the small ball lineups will kill us if we dont shore up our perimeter defense.

I think ideally Agbaji develops into that off ball player who can also defend other teams best perimeter player. I think Kessler will eventually develop into at least an average 3P shooter which would be huge for our spacing. I think ideally we either add 1) An elite PG / versatile 3&D wing 2) An elite wing / versatile 3&D PG. Jaylen Brown, Amen Thompson, and Scoot Henderson are on my wish list.

PG - ???
SG - Agbaji
SF - ???
PF - Lauri
C - Kessler

Siakam needs the ball in his hands all the time. He's good, but he's also an overdribbler who can't seem to be able to do anything without putting the ball on the floor first.
