The young guys should have played more. Specifically Burks, Kanter and Gobert. But I'm not buying that we would have been worse if they did.

Or you move up from 23/35 and/or buy a pick late like they did with Gobert. You simply don't trade away a top 5 pick in a strong draft. You take the best player you can.

Agree on the trade up. That #35 could potentially land a pick in the 20's straight up. Still great quality at #35, but the contract isn't guaranteed. More flexible for teams that are up against the cap or tax limit.

Great point. The Jazz have more than enough room to take on guaranteed contracts if they're sold on a guy being worth the pick. I'm still hoping that they can finagle their way into a late lottery pick or just outside of the lottery for a guy like Payton, LaVine, Harris, Payne or even Saric. There's some pretty talented players who will fall outside the lotto this year IMO.
