Trades Ideas to get into the Lottery

Well let's start thinking of ways to get into the lottery (barring a kick in GS's nuts from Karma).

I feel like we either need to extend Millsap or trade him. If we're going to trade him, how about we package him + the GS pick to SAC for Evans (who it looks like they're going to want to move, and technically expires at the end of next year, but has a qualifying offer) and the #5 pick. With #5 we could probably get either Beal or T. Robinson.

This thread isn't supposed to be bashing me for this idea, but for everyone to throw out their own ideas while bashing mine.

I think Millsap to Portland to pair with Aldridge... Portland has 2 picks...

Edit: I don't think they'll do it though. If I were Portland I'd take Beal & Marshall and that's my back court for the next 5 years locked.

It doesn't matter. This year will be the first year a #14 pick will jump into the top three (and only because the Jazz could have had that pick). That will bump GS's pick to us.

And Jazzfanz goes wild (in a good way #8).

Trading our protected GS pick for the 13th or 14th pick if the people who have it then don't find anyone they really want (if Marshall or Lillard are available).

Can someone give me a you're-an-idiot specific explanation as to what this means?

This draft is overrated, especially given team needs. With 4 young players who will already need minutes to develop next season, there is little reason to be upset if the Jazz have to wait a year. Also, if the Jazz are going to make a run at a potential max free agent in 2013, waiting until next year for the picks means those players won't have to be extended until AFTER said max player expires. The Jazz are better off without the pick.

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but every lottery pick has a chance to jump into the top 3. If any pick 8-14 jumps, it will bump the 7 back to 8, and Utah will get it, assuming the 7 doesn't also jump.

Jefferson for Mike Dunleavy or Luc Mbah a Moute + #12 (from NAOS)
Jefferson for Courtney Lee +14

luc Mbah a Moute can't be traded until the end of December, so it would have to be Dunleavy.

How does Jefferson for Courtney Lee even work out $$$.

Im backing off trading Jefferson or Millsap. I think they deserve another year. Millsap and Jefferson might take pay cuts to win also. I just get a good feeling whats building here. But it depends on if we can use Paul at the three more often

Jefferson for something.

Millsap is off the table.

This! I would much rather trade Jefferson than Millsap. But not necessarily for a pick. We will need a bonafide shooter and if one can't be had in the draft, one that will start paying off right away, then we look elsewhere.

Don't trade Millsap. If KOC really wants someone in the lottery, ship off Jefferson for them. Otherwise, keep the team pat for the time being, and see if you can get anything for Raja Bell, or Josh Howard.

Let's see how our bigs, namely Jefferson, play this post-season first. Let's also see how they develop over the off-season and if this Millsap-Jefferson-Favors lineup can work for much of a season, many minutes a game. I think once we're about 35 games in next year, we'll have a very good idea, and can move accordingly from there.

Bingo. I realize everyone has a boner for draft picks, but I wouldn't trade a key piece (including Jefferson) for a late lottery pick. Chances are teams will be more desperate at next season's trade deadline.

Now rep me bitch. I wanna pass Trout so he gets his panties in a bunch.
