It wasn't? It felt like a waste, and doing the same timing next season will feel like a waste.

Humor me for a moment, say the jazz draft one of Tre Johnson or VJ Edgcomb and whoever we pick turns out to show allstar potential and is in the conversation for rookie of the year. Had we not had the worst record we don’t get that guy and we are set back. Would you rather have the more sure thing or end up with a 10-14 pick and be going no where still not accomplishing any more than we actually did.

You saying it was a wasted season is you being a hater. I feel lucky just to be top 5 in a top 5 heavy draft.

Tre is measuring out as a much better athlete than I have anticipated. Putting up athletic numbers only slightly worse than VJ but VJ looks 2x the athlete on game tape. Did I miss the athleticism with Tre on the tape or is this a workout warrior scenario?

just didn't have many opportunities on that texas team, but he flashed it a few times.

I feel like people here are way overlooking Tre. He’s not Key at all. Hes not small has a definitive position. And is in the convo for best shooter in the draft with Kon.

Ya Key was a bad shooter in college and if he is a 2 then he is undersized as well. Neither applies to tre johnson

The hope is that Tre is outlier elite at shooting 3s. To a gamebreaking and efficiency breaking level. If Tre is that level of amazing at shooting then driving to the basket only needs to be good enough to be the counter to the crazy 3 point shooting.

He truly did carry the Texas offense on his back and somehow made it to the tournament. He scored 39 points on 14-28 in a game and lost. This might be a real situation where the team piled way too much on a Freshmen and he still somewhat met expectations. Compare that to a Rutgers team that had 2 Top 3 picks in Harper and Ace and disappointing.

I have a feeling that adding Tre Johnson to a Will Hardy offense could make him ridiculously good.

Ya IDGAF if steph gets in the paint or draws fouls or plays defense. Steph shoots so well that none of that stuff really matters.
If Tre is that kind of shooter then you take him and be happy as hell.

He didn’t fall because other guys passed him. That was self inflicted. Tre is thought of as having star potential

I feel like we do this every year. We have a draft order in May that we think is set in stone, and then come late June there are some major changes that we all are like "yeah, totally called that".

2023 is a great example. I dont remember a single mock here or anywhere for that matter that showed Cam falling out of the top 9. Many had him top 5.

To answer the question, I could see him slide to 10+. Not saying its a guarantee, but if teams are convinced he is nothing more than a 1 dimensional shooter.......queue slide.
