Bradley + BKN 2016 + BKN 2018 + 2016 Dallas Pick + 2018 Memphis pick

They already have Smart, so Bradley is a bit redundant... if we are giving up Hayward it would have to be an overpay. I think Gordon is very good and this would be a big step back so I'd ask for the world. They offered up a **** ton for Winslow who was a good but flawed draft prospect.

I'm not sure they have anything of interest. Maybe Marcus Smart, Kelly Olynyk and 2 unprotected 1st round picks one of them being BKN 2016. Just looked at their roster it's really pathetic.

I'd be very happy with Hayward for Bradley/Smart+BKN 2016+BKN 2018, but I doubt BOS would do that. From what I've heard they're reluctant to give up either BKN pick, especially this year's.

If we're going to trade assets for a PG, I'd prefer Bradley over Teague (or almost any other realistic option), although I doubt BOS is willing to trade him right now as it sounds like they're looking to buy rather than sell.

Either way, I just hope that we're proactive at the trade deadline. IMO now is the time to either trade Hayward or add to our core & attempt to make a run.

I'd do this but replace Avery Bradley with Jae Crowder and maybe take a pick or two off.

I assume if they cash in picks they are going win now. Crowder would be retained if they went win now. Could be a crowder plus 2 BKN picks... They can offer him in free agency but we could offer him five year mega max and he isn't passing those extra $$$$. Remember he bought a Honda Accord as a rookie and ate at subway... Those dollars matter and we are a better basketball situation.

I'd demand Jae Crowder if we are letting go of Hayward. We would have a glaring weakness at the 3 (Rodney is tall but he is a 2)

Any trade offer that doesn't include the Brooklyn 2016 unprotected pick, the Jazz hang up the phone even before they finish their sentence.

Good point. I'd consider crowder plus the 2016 Bkn pick and the 2018 Bkn pick. I just think hayward stays and he's too critical to what we do to give him up for a guy who might be having an outlier season and first round picks which we all know are no sure thing.

For sure. I don't really see the point of trading him unless he has issues and demands it anyways or you are getting back a better player at a position of need which I see no scenario with any team.

I'm not so sure about the money being the deciding factor. I agree that it was the reason he accepted the offer from CHA as a RFA, but it's not like he didn't get paid already. And whether it comes from us or another team, either way he's getting paid again.

This is just my opinion but Hayward seems like the type of competitor that would forego the extra money (between a 4 year max from another team & a 5 year max from us) for a chance at winning a championship, which is the reason I believe now is the time to trade him or add around him. I could be wrong tho as he likely has the opportunity to sign another max/near max contract after this one.

Personally I believe that he would prefer to finish his career here & that we would have to give him a reason to leave (not offering the max, missing the playoffs/not getting out of the 1st rd, trading away core players, etc), I just don't think that we should count on the extra money being the key to retaining him.

With just about every team having a max slot due to the sudden and steep increase in the cap, Gordon can just negotiate a Lebron-type deal, in which he can opt out after one or two seasons - and THEN sign a 5yr deal.

But if we DO give him $30M, we WILL have to eventually trade away core players. Gobert is getting the max. And Favors will get very close to it. That leaves little room to give Hood, Exum. etc. big contracts. And it's likely the reason DL has been stockpiling picks. He knows Utah will be losing a key player or two.

To me, it's disturbing we've heard Favors trade rumors the past few seasons. Derrick, IMO, is far more important to this team than most realize. It's the TANDEM of Gobert and Favors that is truly beastly on defense.

I really agree with the part about Favors. He is a 20/9.5/1.5 guy with really good d which to me may make him the most complete player on the team. Hayward is better skilled and smarter but he has a lower ceiling because of his average athleticism.

I really really really hope our guys buy into sacrificing some money (like the Spurs guys have done over the years)
In order to stay together and build something.

Good point about the opt-out. Also agree about having to pay everyone, which is why I would be hesitant to pay Hayward $30 mil a year. I think he's a great #2, but personally I view Gobert as the most important piece on this team & Favors as slightly more/equally important. IMO the frontcourt of Favors & Gobert is what gives this team a legitimate chance to win a championship in the future & I'm not sure that you can win a title in this NBA while paying 3 non-elite 2 way players the max (Hayward & Favors are both great 2 way players but not elite, Gobert is elite defensively). If I had to choose 2 of Hayward/Favors/Gobert to build around, I'd go with Favors & Gobert.

I also place more value on Favors because he's arguably a top-8 PF and maybe the best backup 5 in the league. Hard to find bigs as talented, whereas good 6'8" players are more plentiful. That's not a knock on Gordon, though. Hayward and Gobert can set the tone in terms of how much they demand. Then Favors has his chance the year after.

I'm afraid this is likely just wishful thinking. The players all understand the opportunity to cash in is about to be historic. Also, it just isn't something young players do. It's usually the guys who have already gotten a couple of big contracts and know that their window for a championship is closing. If any of our players get into this frame of mind, it likely won't be until the next contract or the one after that.

Hate to say this, but I think Rudy, Derrick and Rodney will be more willing to sacrifice to stay together than Gordon. Those three hung out together this summer while Gordon was with family and in-laws in Indiana, I know some of the team then met him there, but Hayward's heart has to be in the Midwest where all his family is. I could see him teaming up with George in Indiana. I think that's even a stronger possibility than going to Boston to play under Stevens.

Yeah I tend to agree. They seem more down to earth than Gordon.

Knowing this I wonder what DL will do? Is he willing to hand Gordon the "new MAX", or is he better off trading him for assets and keep the money for Favors and Rudy?
