Treveon Graham signs with Utah Jazz

Let's call him Teddy Grahams

Them are yummy. Have not had em in years.
Putting them on the grocery list after I finish my business

Let's please oblige Hack and turn this into a post about race.

So is it okay for other races to call white people names? Or is it time for a race war?

Discuss.
I think it's ok to call white people names but I also don't think most racial slurs for other races should be such a big deal either

Better to make that grocery list BEFORE pooping. You make it after or go to the store when you're hungry and you're far more likely to overbuy and/or buy junk food.

Crackers, cookies and cheeses aside, I think Graham looks like a nice pick-up. He looks like he'll be an energy player to start, but he's got potential as a 2-way player. Great motor.

I'm pretty sure the term, "cracker" didn't come from crackers.

So do you think that's why the Cookie Monster is a Cookie Monster and not a Cracker Monster? Aside from the fact that he's blue and all.

Anyhow, wishing Mr. Graham all the best in his basketball career throughout the upcoming season, wherever he ends up.

(Hopefully not in a barrel at any rate)

But even if Graham doesn't make the final cut, he'll probably get offered a contract with the Stampede (unless he gets picked up by another NBA team). And he'll appreciate the fact Utah threw some extra money his way.

Sorry to shift this back to Graham, the player... (I'm always a little late)

Agree with Stifle here. It's not about Graham making a spot to start the season, it's about finding and banking decent players. Get some exposure to him and him to Jazz org, maybe he plays with Stampede... but Cotton, Cooley and Johnson didn't start the year w/ the Jazz, but found their way onto the roster, as the year went along...

So since we own our own D-League team if we cut people from the NBA roster they can just serve the contract on the D-League roster? Use them for summer camp? We don't have to just say "Sorry, bro."?
Explain to me how that works.

If they are not on the 15 man roster they have to play for the DLeague salary which is peanuts. It seems that they might throw $200,000 or $300,000 signing bonus on a "make good" rookie contract that pays $500,to $600,000 per year. If they make the team, the Jazz owes them the minimum less the signing bonus. If they get cut they get to keep the bonus and play for the $20,000 per year the DLeague provides. I suspect Graham and JJ will be in Boise this hoops season.

Is $20K a year really correct? Wow, the step down from NBA to DLeague is ginormous! I assumed they were getting about $50 to $70K.

$20,000 is the average and the range is from 16 to 26,000 I think. The teams are salaried capped and if a draft pick comes down and is on an NBA roster it doesn't count against the team's cap. The conditions are spartan and the coaches don't earn a whole lot either.

Wow! I attended two DLeague games when they had the team in Orem so I knew there wasn't a lot of money to be made, but I had no idea it was that bad. Since there's so much more to be made overseas it's got to be a very challenging decision for a guy to choose the DLeague. The best guys in that league could easily be making five times as much (and probably a lot more) if they were in Europe or somewhere else.

Agree. This is one benefit of being under the cap. Jazz can throw signing bonuses at players they want to see in training camp. NBA minimum salary is around $515,000. Of course they are free to sign with ANY team if they are cut. But one would hope that a signing bonus might buy some loyalty...if that player is not offered an NBA deal. And, of course, they'd be free to be called up by any team during the season, even if they're playing for the Stampede (if they're not on the 15-man roster).

The purpose of the DLeague is to get out of the league and a lot of players are hoping for the 10 day contract that broadens out. If a player goes to Europe they are usually stuck there for the season because the contract is for the season and it is harder to get into an NBA situation during the year.

Not sure how that applies to my post, but I agree. Just one 10-day contract pays more than an entire year in the D-League. Besides, only a handful will get offered contracts to play outside the U.S. Jazz are taking a risk those signing bonuses will be paid to players who eventually get 10-day contracts with another team. But it works both ways. We poached Cotton, Millsap and Johnson, none of whom had been drafted by Utah.
