excerpt:

"As he completes his first full month of his rookie season, Burke looks like he has a lot of Damian Lillard in him. While Lillard wasn't a master of any particular part of the game during his rookie season, he was accomplished in a lot of areas on his way to becoming the league's rookie of the year. This season, his play has jumped thanks to his superior shooting and talent at running a high-powered offense."

1. Trey Burke
2. MCW
3. Tim Hardaway Jr.
4. G. Antetokounpo
5. Mason Plumlee
6. Steven Adams
7. Victor Oladipo
8. Nate Wolters
9. Matthew Dellavedova
10. Hollis Thompson

I know I'm a fan of Burke's, but I think he's the better player over MCW now and long term. MCW has zero pressure playing in an uptempo offense. He has the ball in his hands all the time, and because they truly want to tank he is afforded the right to make bad decision and take questionable shots without penalties. Burke on the other hand is often used off ball and doesn't have the same free range and uptempo offense to inflate his stats. MCW will be good, but it's starting to look like a Deron Williams(MCW) vs. Chris Paul(TB) kind of situation.

As a fan of the sport should be fun to watch these two develop over the next few years.

another excerpt from the article:

"Burke is not in Lillard's class as they compare today, yet there are signs that he is headed in that direction quickly. His poise and overall understanding of the game are already above that of most young guards with more playing experience in the NBA. Watch him attack the paint off ball screens or out of isolations. See him play with patience most of the time. Admire his ability to use his body to create space or pivot around defenders who get too aggressive trying to take away that space. He is showing the willingness to be his team's best player and scorer when the situation calls for it, not being content to be just a ball mover who feeds his veteran teammates."

Awesome. He moves into #1 and they spend his whole paragraph talking about Dmaian Lillard...

At all the nay sayers. This season isn't over and Utah is still in a great position. Only a 1/2 game behind the Bucks and a lead of 1 1/2 games on the #3 tanks in Philly and Orlando. Have faith. Utah can make this tank work.

It's definitely not too late for Lindsey to upgrade the tank.

Looking at minutes played and PER (own, opponent, net), what do you suggest?

Williams might be hurting the tank, but the tank is strong in Jefferson, Rush, and Lucas. Of the players with negative Net PER, who (besides possibly Kanter) would you want to see more of? Of the players with positive Net PER, who (besides possibly Williams) would you want to see less of? Should we play Kanter and Favors together, even thought they each do better without the other right now?

Jazz should have Hayward take some time off to get his wedding planned out and to spend more time with his fiance? They can just call it DNP - Personal Reasons. The Jazz organization is all about family values right?

Play guys like Lucas and Rush more. And playing guys like that together at crucial times (such as closing out quarters).

It really isn't that difficult to tank properly. Run out a lineup of Lucas, Rush, Jefferson, Harris, and Biendrins for 10 minutes a game; sit players whenever they have the slightest injury (such as Jefferson tonight).

There are plenty of things that could be done, it's just a matter of Lindsey thinking clearly and going all in on this thing.

I suggest more Gobert, Harris, Lucas and Kanter.

More Gobert worsens the tank (he is outplaying Biedrins in net PER).
More Lucas worsens the tank (he is outplaying Garrett in net PER) or takes away from Burke.
If Kanter can't play with Favors, then more Kanter means less Favors.
Harris has a better net than Jefferson. Whose time does he take so as to not disturb the tank?

Instead of whom? Every minute for Lucas/Rush is a minute not played by someone else.

Please clarify your thought, then.

Kanter is a nightmare both on this rating and vanilla +/-. Playing him with Favors for 30 minutes a game should be all we need. Slowly try to extend his range to the three point line by the end of the season so maybe it can work next year.

Move Burks to the starting lineup (so that he isn't surrounded by players who destroy the space he needs).
Let Kanter be the sixth man... Hope that Jefferson, Rush, and JL3 can space the floor enough for him to be volume guy. Give him the green light.

Both of these things would probably result in net losses (Hay at the 3; no driver in the second unit), but have certain developmental advantages.

Just a thought.
