Trey Burke's adjustment

I think Ty is using him just fine. Lucky for him that a lot of the offense goes through others at this point. I am in the camp of - jury is still out - on his ability to be our future PG.

Totally agree. The kid's got more than he can chew with this limited role. Those who think Ty is hamstringing Trey are ridiculous. This is probably the worst "Blame Ty" argument out there.

Trey needs to get better shot selection. I am a huge Michigan Fan. Always have been. I think think Trey is great.

But even with my Michigan goggles..........Trey needs to get his floater down, pick better shots. And work on the pick and roll more with Kanter and Favors. This 1 on 1 stuff he tries needs to end right now.
He will never be a all-star point guard. I don't want Trey to average 18 points per game and be like Deron or Chris Paul who have to have to ball in their hands. He needs to average 12-13 and 6-7 assists.
He is a role playing PG and that is what we want. He just needs to realize that.
Championship teams don't come with PG's who dominate the ball all the time. Playoff time its easier to game plan against.
Balanced playmakers is what we want. Share the playmaking ability with 2-3 players. Not just 1. Chris Paul will NEVER win a championship. And you can take that bet up with me. We want Trey to be B.J. Armstrong from the 90's bulls.
A great catch and shoot player but with a little more playmaking ability than BJ had.

is Trey adjusting to the league or is the league adjusting to him?

his #'s are decreasing monthly(14.8ppg in Dec, 11.8 in Jan, 11.0 in Feb, 9.6 so far in march)

his PPS is under 1.0 (127th out of 127 qualified players), shooting 37% from the field(25th of 25 qualified PG's) and 32% from deep(41st of 45 qualified PG's).

I'm kind of concerned we see more of the same next year..

there is honestly no way of knowing.

Imagine if we landed a scorer like Parker. That would help Burke tremendously. He really doesn't have a go-to-guy to give the ball to. GH hasn't shot the ball well this year and Williams is sporadic. Burke is a monster competitor - that was one of his sticking points in scouting reports. He's going to become a better player and he's going to get in better shape. And when our front office upgrades the team (which will happen), Burke will play better.

I wonder what Trey's ceiling is and what his floor is. He's not going to get any taller, probably won't get any quicker. I was so excited when we drafted him, but I'm starting to wonder if Trey's the answer at point. Obviously, Ty hasn't used him correctly. He's had the offense go through Hayward as much as Ty. I know he's a rookie, but I'm not sure if we are always going to out gunned at point every night.

I'm in the same about, although I had serious reservations about drafting him in the first place. AS you said, Trey isn't going to get any taller. And when you're a small PG, you better be quick. Trey is not quick. Add to that the fact he can't shoot and all the ingredients are present for a major bust. My bold prediction: Burke will not last past his rookie contract with Utah. DL will trade him and other assets to bring in an upgrade.

Burke has a lot to work on during the off-season and I trust things will be addressed. There's no doubt he's going to work on his shooting, conditioning, etc.

The Summer League should have been a huge red flag to the organization. Burke's legs were still dead in July - probably from doing nothing after Michigan going all the way through the tournament a few months before.

He can work on his shooting and conditioning in the offseason, but he will always be short and slow. Jazz fans must hope he can be smarter than the other guys, or that he can be traded to move up in this draft.

You put Jabari on this team, and all of the sudden Hayward is hitting 40+% of his threes, same with Burke, Favors PPG goes up 2-4 points per game, and we win 50 games next year.
